What's the thing that raises/ lowers the mW on a Blu-ray?

Ima build one and go buy the materials soon enough and I know enough to build it. But what I don't know is, what mW I should be expecting to get... o_O.
I mean, what part of the laser marks the mW?
 





if you know enough about it to build one then you should know the answer to the ? at hand.. ;)

I know enough about it because I watched videos and read tutorials. None said this though o-o. Care to answer? I'm gonna go buy the materials (or look them up in shops) in about 1 ~ 2 hours and I'd like to know what mW I'm going to get.

The output is dependant on many things. Mostly:

-Type of diode used (ex: PHR/6x/8x)
-The current being fed to the diode
-The type of optics being used
-How clean the diode window/optics are
..................
The list goes on

Also know that not every diode is the same.

Some are duds, others are super freaks.

Kind of like...they are all the same, but a few are different?

Just pullin' your chain XGX, you can never really learn enough, in this field ;)
 
That has GOT to be one of the FUNNIEST statements I've read on hear in quite a while.
No offense to the OP...................rob
 
Basically if you are using a PHR at 110mA (the current) with a rckstr or other popular regulating driver you will find around here, you can expect about 90mW maybe a little more or a little less... But because it's a violet laser (405nm) they burn particularly well :)

The way I read this statement, it sounded like he was wondering what makes higher powered blu-ray diodes BE higher powered. Like referring to the science as to why is a GGW a higher power diode than a PHR diode. I dunno much, but it's got something to do with bond wires and stuff :)
