Water proof Blu-ray

There isn't a need to send me the head of the host if you know what the dimensions are going to be. If you don't have the proper tools to make the measurement, then I guess you could send it to me. :)

Sweet. If you have any questions, feel free to ask as well.

Have you recieved that heat sink yet?

I have asked Jayrob to do some testing with this laser in his awesome pool and he has been kind enough to agree to take some time out of his busy schedule to do some tests.

His beautiful pool is at max 8.5 feet deep. I never really expected for this laser to go deaper than that, so his pool is perfect.:)

Either Jayrob or I will post the results on this thread or some other one.

Thanks Jayrob...I owe you.

FYI...I am currently using Jayrob's blu-ray lens mod and I couldn't be happier with it.:)

I'll take is to 3' first, then dry it off and check it...

Then maybe 5', 6', 7' and 8'. I sure hope it doesn't leak! I would hate to damage it.

Please confirm:

SF-AW210 diode
FlexDrive
405-G-1

Is this the current configuration?

P.S. The 405-G-1 glass lens is a good choice for such a build. Because you will not be focusing this laser. And the 'short focus' design of this lens will allow a good 'all around' beam if you focus it to the best visual dot at about 30'. (IMO)

For red, the same thing goes for my Meredith Glass lens mod! :)

you are Spot on with the configuration.
I would hate to have it leak too, but it's a risk that I am willing to take on my first build with this host.
It's running in between 205mA and 220mA.

I commend you on your creativity!

Will there be a tutorial?

I tried to make some instructions. I believe that the instructions are poorly made, but it should be enough for everyone to understand how to make it.
[size=+2]Click the link to download instructions. (11.3MB Zip File)

There is one last thing that I would like to add to those instructions...use some thermal glue between the heatsink and the driver pill. It makes everything more solid. :)

Thanks to Jayrob....I now know how much the Protective lens is stealing from my blu-ray.
A quote from Jayrob...
"I measured the power with and without the glass lens. It is 198mW's without the glass lens, and 182mW's with the lens. An 8% loss."

To be honest, it isn't as bad as what I thought it would be.

Thanks again Jayrob for your help with testing out my build.:)

No problem...

Tomorrow I'll take it to 3' in my pool for about a minute or two. Then dry it off really well and check the inside for any leaks.

If it is waterproof at 3', I'll try 5'. Then 1' at a time...

Nice build by the way! :)

Test results!

Very impressed with your build! :)

Absolutely water tight even at 8'...

I tested it at 3', 5', and 8'. Each test was with the laser on for over 1 minute at that depth.

Really cool that this bad boy is water tight! I should mention that the water temperature of my pool was 85 degrees. So there was little chance for condensation issues that I would expect to see under different conditions.

But still... Very cool!

I can send you back the laser tomorrow...

Sweet I am glad the results are good!!!!:):):):)
Thanks Jayrob....I will send you a PM:)

I have got to ask...Do you have any pics of it in your pool?:)

I did not take any pictures. I just finished, and it is 4:20PM. If I wanted to take a picture, I would do it at night. That way you could see the laser on.

Did you want me to take a night shot of your laser on at 8' depth?
