Water proof Blu-ray

My pebble finish is mostly white. (speckled with black) But with the sun shining right on there, I can only see the dot as if there was no water, shining on a white surface in broad daylight.

I'm sure it will look pretty cool at night though...

I'll post the picture when I get it later tonight! :)

Under water beam shots! (not quite completely dark out yet)

Waterproof 1.jpg

Waterproof 2.jpg

The first picture is illuminated in the lower left corner because I forgot, and left the kitchen light on in the house. But the beam is so bright under water, that it didn't matter! Strange how the water makes the beam appear to 'bend'...

Also, besides the camera, the under water beam is very bright to the eye as well!

I may have to build me one of these now! :)

awesome beamshots.i will take some also when i finish mine in my aunt's pool!

wow, beautiful!
congrats on the laser and its fully watertightness! :-)
hmm.. a tiny amount of fluoresceine, so little its invisible and non-hazardous.. the laser will find it, i'm sure! :-)

oh, and you need a line-generating lens in front of that! :-)

Thanks....and a line-generating lens would be sweet!!

I am going to try to make another one of these, but this time my goal will be making the focus adjustable underwater. :)

Wish me luck.:) This will definitely take me a long time to make.

but how can you focuse it underwater? you must still take it apart to focuse ther lens, if the flashlight waterproof lens is still in front of.
please correct me if i missunderstood it

My internet is out for the rest of the week at home, but as of right now, I do have a little bit of time to reply to you.

There wouldn't be a need to take it apart to focus it. The part up above...screws into the focusing lens just like the Aixiz focusing ring does. Then the focusing lens gets screwed into the module which in turn will hold the new piece in place. There are 2 o-rings that would go up against the heatsink and there is also one o-ring where the lens goes. Doing this would make the length of the host grow about .150 to .500 inches.

The lens will go in between the two plates with the four holes...for screws.

Wow... those shots are awesome.

I'd be in the market for a waterproof build, but not having access to a pool is fairly detrimental to messing with a laser underwater.

Just an update for all of you....I have decided not to make this laser focusable underwater. All designs have their limits and I really don't feel like risking this build. Plus I really do think that it is perfect as is. Shoot, I love this laser. :)

One thing that I would recomend is buying Jayrob's special 405nm Lens mod for this laser. The output of the lens definitly counters the power loss of 8% from the protective lens. In my opinion, it's worth every penny.

One downfall of jayrob's lens mod (THIS BUILD ONLY) is that it was just a little bit to long for it fit inside the heatsink. This can easilly be fixed with a file or asking Jay to take a little bit of the lens.

Thanks to all that have said kind words about this laser and to those of you who have helped me along the way.

Later,

about the length of jay's lens: are you using the focus ring? you can cut off several mm from the ring. more than half of its length. thats what I did, it didnt fit behind my ar coated lens of my host before..
