If DJNY gets the help he needs, which I guess I'm OK with, then keep Laserhunt on a "very" short leash until his intentions have been proven. Especially with the secret PM's being a possibility as Lasersbee pointed out.

I would never BUY something on this (or any other) forum that would have been
offered only via PM and not in the plain open, but maybe I'm just a cautious fellow.

He told officially on the forum that he ordered a laser for me. Didn´t ask him to do that, but he did that all others can see and follow the process.
He also created the new (3rd) account (Laserray) just to contact me, never posted with this account.

No that's not what I meant.

I meant lasersbee argument about him making bad deals via PM. Which I don't see as
much of a threat. I would like him to be get unbanned for your sake.

So, is this now moot? When he contacted you, did he give you his contact info? Did you request other contact info for him?

It should have been clear, at that time, that PM's were going to be problematic.

I didn´t ask for another contact information. Didn´t think about the option that he gets banned. One contact option seemed to be enough for me. Anyway I had to trust this guy, even if I knew his whole address and many more details, I would have to trust him after sending him the $$ - I´m here in Austria.. he is in China.. far away.
I´m quite optimistic that this is going to have a good end for me + that I get a nice laser. Would be just NICE to keep in touch with him, at least till the laser knocks at my door.

I hope for a happy ending for you. However, since he had already been banned once for having multiple accounts, why would you not think that his third account would be banned as well?

some communication with the seller when he opened another
account that you didn't exchange E-Mai addresses...:thinking:

He just contacted me wirth the 3rd that the laser is shipped from taobao and he`ll tell me as soon it arrives at him. Saw the mail and minutes later he was banned. So there wasn´t an option to ask him for his mail.

But now as I got the tracking info from PayPal, I hope that everything is fine. Just hope that I don´t get a bomb

Thank you. I also hope so. But it won´t be overspec, bought it as a 5000mW laser - paid $70 incl his service+shipping - if he ordered the right one, I´ll be fine with let´s say >150mW and <1.6mRad divergence. There is a customer review on the taobao site saying that his was 380mW according to LaserHunt. He told me after I made my decision to buy the laser.

LOL! He has had multiple accounts since at least Sept of last year. We do not catch them all (especially at first). Sometimes the member has to draw "special" attention to themselves, before we notice the problem.

c0ldshadow is one of the most laid-back and easy-going people I have ever met. He is much "nicer" than I. He gives everybody more chances than I would. However, suspicious actions result in extra scrutiny. That is what happened in this case.

A "good" con man or SPAMMER starts out registering multiple accounts and only uses one or two of them. They are aware that one or more of their accounts will have problems, so they always set up "shadow accounts" so they can continue even after discovery.

Sorry. I was editing while you were posting.

There is no way for you to check. It is one of the reasons that "rep" and tenure have value.

I often buy stuff from people with low posts or rep. However, I do so with the full realization that I may be loosing my money. Especially with someone who has a low post count or low rep, one should get additional contact info as soon as possible. Membership in a forum such as this is NOT guaranteed
