The anodization process makes heat, anodize a few sheets of aluminum foil, then stir the acid to get the bath to temperature and then anodize the barrels. The process will keep the bath at the right temperature from there, just keep stirring the acid. Heat is the enemy when anodizing, not cold. A bath that is too hot will just pull the anodized layer off faster than it can be made, but a cold bath lets a thicker anodized layer form. (Check Type III anodizing.) You want the bath around 15-20C for normal Type II anodizing.

I'm still not sure where the thread issue came from, all of the grooves I have here still fit alright and I haven't touched those threads at all. Maybe it was a fluke or something?
I'm somewhat confused...what is the difference between the grooves you have and the ones Ken has?
