The REAL Kryton GB round #3. Taking payments now.

sadly no. As of yesterday, I have no more thermopiles to make meters from.

Looks like we've run into a little snag.. some of the pockets were too big, so they are being remade. This will delay it a little while.. Not quite sure how long tho.

On another note, those heads with overlarge pockets are going to be recycled and I hate to see heads that could potentially be used for a 9mm diode (they could be modified easily still) go to waste.. so if you want one of the heads speak up now and pay pontiac for one before they go to the scrap yard for waste aluminum to be recycled.
I'll leave the price up to him.

I'll take 2 extra larger holed heads to play around with depending on cost. Let me know the cost pontiacg5 and kenom let me know the cost to get them bare polished. I know it will take some of your extra time to do that.

Why not drill them out for use on modules as heatsinks or use with 532 modules?

By the way, I'll take one or two of the oversize heads if the price is reasonable.

I'll sell the over-sized heads for $2.50 each if anyone wants any. They are about 3 or 4 thou too large, they just barely grip a 5.6mm diode. You could probably just use thermal epoxy to hold a normal diode if you wanted.

Anyway, I'm going to work again tomorrow morning to finish these things off for good this time.

I don't have an ETA for the beast just yet, I should have a date soon after I get all these grooves shipped out.

Sorry for the delay guys!

that is exactly what i was thinking.
bore it up to something like 11,80mm (so the module can be press-fit in the head), the driver room should allow enough room for the back end off the module and driver.

i just see 1 prob though, heatsinking the module since its the back part that gets hot.....

p.s. ill take 2 just in case, 2,50 is a steal still
might even bore it up to 9mm to make a IR buil one day lol

@Pontiacg5
np man, any one can make mistakes shyt happens.
if we all knew thing like this happen and could prefend it from happening, the world would be to perfect to life in :p

I'm glad you guys caught the mistakes on the diode pockets, before they got anodized and shipped, Great job!

I pm'd pontiacg5 but didn't get a response yet. I'll take two of the larger pockets @2.50 each.

Never know

I PM'ed him a bit ago to buy two as well... he's probably a very busy guy so I'm not two worried.
PontiacG5 is da man!

Sorry I've not been around at all this weekend guys, it was for a good reason though! I've got a whole batch of new heads made and they are perfect! I've got just a little more deburring to do and they'll be packed and shipped by Wednesday at the latest.

I had no idea that there would be such interest in oversized heads! I'm letting them go for 2.50 each shipped. Most of them will just barely grab a 5.6mm diode but a drop would probably unseat the diode. If there is enough interest I'll bore some out for 9mm diodes or I could face and tap a little off of the back for c-mount diodes.

I've got a bunch of slightly defective focus adapters for sale too. The originals were OK, but the lenses fit rather loose, I went ahead and made all new focus adapters to match the new heads and they hug those lenses like a glove! I'll let these go for $5 each. Be warned, you will need a good bit of teflon for these to work in an older Kryton Groove. Because the threads of the new heads are so tight they probably wont work at all in this batch of grooves, so if you want a focus adapter for the new grooves I strongly suggest you get the newer style one from Kenom.

I'll post up some pictures of the new head and focus adapters when I get home tonight. They don't look much different (if at all) from the old ones though!

I told pontiac that the oversized heads would go quickly and I don't think he believed me. $2.50 is a steal. Get more for them that way than as scrap aluminum.

On another note, I am living in a place now that has no internet. I do have my phone which has internet so my presence on the net is not going to be what it normally is. Everything is still on schedule with the barrels and I'll start polishing and anodizing as soon as I get them.
