My point, Jerry, was to find out what would be more fair for the community, the original 5 items, retailing at various prices ($50-$250) - auctioned separately, or "some" mega-buck Sonars. No one is going to stop bidding at $10 for a 200mW Sonar... ;)

I usually take things to the extreme to prove a point...:D
Obviously the bid WILL go higher than $10.00 on any of the Auctions...

Jerry

What ever items you guys decide to bid on, expect a fair bit of outbidding from me :gun:

Yes. the Sonar host looks pretty nice. And, we (LPF) should be able to fetch a nice amount of $ for Ken.
But I still like the raffle idea better than the auction idea. That way someone with little chance of ever owning a WL-laser (even if it's one-or-two-of-a-kind) normally, may get a sweet laser for a low cost (raffle ticket cost).
If we do an auction (which I am sure will raise more money for this good cause), I feel like the people with the most "expendable" cash would get the laser(s). And, that is kind of how it is now (only the well-off can afford most higher-end WL lasers). So, while this could be an opportunity to get some fund$ for Ken, I (personally) would rather see a raffle than an auction, so there are more "winners" than just Ken.

The proletariat vs. the bourgeoisie argument, eh? ;)

Peace,

Lol!!! And what role will you play, this fiscal quarter, Professor? ;)

A raffle is a nice idea, but I'm not sure how we could administer / monitor it. Not to suggest that a Niko or a Dave or an Avery are not highly trustworthy, but with an auction, everything is 100% public*.

*Niko, close the auction after my bid and I'll paypal you the "service fees" we agreed on, *wink-wink*

IMO a raffle brings more money! But the die is cast already and I´m ready for the auction :gun:

Sorry for the misunderstanding, guys. I've edited the post.

Yes, Traveller got it right. I meant "hosts", not "cases". My Spanish just got in the way :p

Regarding the base price issue. Yes, I've thought about it... but think of it this way:

We auction a 5mW Core. When it reaches $58.00 people will stop bidding. Why? Because the retail price for the Core is $57.97

Now, if we auctioned the 200mW Greenies in the Sonar Extreme hosts then we wouldn't have an exact retail price so bidding won't be hindered by the facts explained before.

I still don't know the details, I'm awaiting Steve's response. In addition, I don't know if it'll have the BluRay isologotype or not.

@Ash: The items will be auctioned. Simon posted valid reasons on Page #1.

@Traveller: You still owe me for that bottle of Argentinean air I sent you. Who do you think you are? Do you even know how much time it took me to gather all that air?

That gets a bit complicated in my position.

I am part of an organized (union) work force

My union fights to control my rich bosses and to extract as much money from them as it can.

My rich bosses receive the majority of their funds from the government

The government gets virtually ALL of its money from the pockets of organized and unorganized workers (including me).

It is an enigma, wrapped in a paradox, balanced on a dichotomy --

so sayeth the prophet

Considering my dualistic situation, I will participate in this fund raising event, no matter how it is ultimately structured.

Peace,
dave

I guess it's going to be an auction. :yabbem:

Excellent. I know that I don't have enough money (or time) to bid against the wealthy, so I've already lost. :cryyy:

No offence intended Ash....

I'd like to buy a Lambourghini but I don't have enough money like the
wealthy....

So what...

I then built a Lambourghini replica that I could afford rather than whine
and feel bad about not being able to buy one....

(It's an analogy... but true...:yh:)

Are there any updates on this -Kenom Raffle- Niko?

- Do you auction the stuff at your first post or/and the 200mW greenie?
- Is Steve able to remove the "Blu-ray" logo?
- When does the auction is going to start?

Thank you!

DJNY, I'm really sorry but I don't have any details regarding the auction yet. I'm still waiting for Steve to let me know if the lasers are ready, etc.

I'll create a new thread for each auctioned laser so as to avoid chaos :)

I don't know about the BR isologotype either.

Steve should hurry up a bit before I´m totally out of money
