The biggest problem I have with an auction is we are scattered all over the planet and timezones makes it so there will be fewer participants.

Why is there a need to do the auction in "realtime"? I suggest all items are auctioned over a 48 or 73hr period (for example) and the highest bidder after the 48hrs are up wins... . Should the higest bidder drop off the face of the Earth at the last min. then the 2nd highest gets it...

why the rush?

What's the difference....

eBay and other online auctions have auction end times any time of the
day and the items sell to the higher bidder just the same..

Just bid what you are comfortable with...

BTW... you can't bid on the auctions....
it's called shill bidding.....:crackup::crackup::beer:

Guys, Steve offered the option of donating some 200mW Green lasers on Sonar Extreme hosts instead... I say let's go for it, since it's a unique item and there won't be a list price for it.

Wow, that'a a cool-looking host (assuming you meant host and not case...).

It (and the Spyder Pros) are also retailing at almost $1000 so you will have to give us an idea what the opening bid will be. Not everyone (incl. myself) is going to be able to bid on such an item if the auction price comes even close to retail price... :undecided:

Otherwise, hell yeah, I'd love to get my hands on one of those, but my personal cap would be around that of a Glenn-CNI GB 200mW PGL or equivalent (I'm sure you're getting the point I'm trying to make :p).

p.s. Ask Steve if it will come with the Bluray logo...

Even if these items that Steve (WL) is Donating for Free only auction
off at $10.00 ea.. that is $10.00 more to put into the pot and no-one has
made a loss since the items up for auction are FREE Gifts.
I don't see why anyone would think the items need to be auctioned off
at anywhere near the Retail price since they are a Free Donation...

@ Niko... I'm not quite clear... is that a 200mW Green lasers IN Sonar Extreme cases
or 200mW Green lasers OR Sonar Extreme cases

Update: The lasers will be the following:2X - 5mW Core 2X - 80mW Executive Pro
1X - Torch Flashlight

... some 200mW Green lasers on Sonar Extreme cases instead...

My point, Jerry, was to find out what would be more fair for the community, the original 5 items, retailing at various prices ($50-$250) - auctioned separately, or "some" mega-buck Sonars. No one is going to stop bidding at $10 for a 200mW Sonar... ;)
