Well, the problem is the size constraints! I guess they need to be flattops, methinks.

Awesome! I'll have to look into it :D Know of any places I can buy 'em on the cheap?

Hmm. Well, I'll take a look at it. I expect to pay ~$5-8 per battery if they are that good =p

Try fasttech for cheap flattops

edit: I got beat to it

So good news! I discovered the reason why I was getting less current. It wasn't the battery. It was the FET I was using for switching. It was dropping excess voltage because, I think, that the potential difference was too low. Either that, or the FET couldn't handle the 3A I was asking of it (it is a 3A rated FET - figured I would try it, but now I guess I should probably get a higher-rated one).

EDIT: So after looking at the datasheet more closely now, I have discovered the problem. When Vgs = 4.5V, the MOSFET is only designed to go up to 2.6A. So, it would make sense that when it is 3.7-4.2V, it's probably around 2.4-2.5A. Which is exactly the current I am getting =p So I need a MOSFET that can handle 3+A when Vgs is >3.3V. To Digi Key!

Really great circuit design Wolfman! The video was great. Really neat button setup

In case anyone wants to partner with a machinist for this, I am free, and I am working on a design I would like to try. The front of this isn't done yet, as I am unsure of what is needed for mounting a C-mount and lens. Otherwise, TEC and fan build. ;)

Going to just use a maglite body to make it easy to get a big power source.

I understand that much. Need actual dimensions and sizes though. Right now, the picture shows for a regular 12mm module build.

That's Awesome Mr. Crouse! Look forward to seeing a great submission

Thanks! It is only going to get built though if I can find someone interested in it. :/ I don't really want to fool around with super expensive diodes, nor all the electronics in this.

There are a couple people who hopefully will be interested  Like the design though :gj:
