Tattoos anyone?

I just got this tattoo a while back:

Its my first one. Im allergic to nuts so it says "nut allergy" right under it. Its a long shot but hopefully if I am ever found dying somewhere from eating nuts the paramedic will see it and know whats going on. Better than nothing! Haha

I got it on the 9th, any of you tattoo experts know when I can go swimming again? I put AD on it for a while and now ive just been using some plain lotion. It peeled some like two days ago and kinda feels like it will more.

Congrats on your first!

Generally ten days of trying to prevent it from getting any more wet than it has to be is the bare minimum. When it has completely peeled and the skin reflectivity matches your natural skin then it is pretty much fully healed. If it still looks waxy then it isn't done yet.

No. It bears no symbolic meaning other than something personal to me. It isn't tied to anything Asian either as I got it long before the Chinese verbiage around it.

Is that a Schwarzsonne on your back or an Asian similarity?

Ah. Contrary to popular belief the Schwarzesonne is not a Nazi symbol. It was simply on the floor of an estate built during the Nazi occupation and is comprised of twelve Sig runes - also not Nazi symbols (despite them using it as the SS emblem (the Sig rune means "victory" and predates the Nazis by about two thousand years)). Might come in handy to know if anyone ever accuses you of being a neo-Nazi.

Man, I have lots. I didn't know this thread existed...I may have to get my SO to photograph mine for this.

Part of the aftercare process is regularly moisturizing with tattoo safe lotion. Most folks overmoisturize and the tat can get ruined (ink bleeds out and skin turns to mush). Basically you just want to keep it moist enough to prevent cracking and scarring, no more than that. Don't let dry skin hold you back, just don't cheap/laze out in the aftercare department.

I've tried all the major skin care brands and most industry specific stuff and found that I like the Tat Soul Pride Aftercare lotion, H2Ocean Blue-Green Foam Soap, and H2Ocean Ocean Foam best. The trick is knowing your body and how much of each to use when.

I liked Aquatat as a replacement for A&D ointment during the tattoo process as it seems to lubricate the needle better for a softer insertion, but it is harder to work with and showed no improvement in healing time over A&D. It certainly does reduce pain though and feels a lot more soothing than A&D.
After 12 years of being a tattoo artist. I have yet to find an after care cream better than BEPANTHEN#
it halves the normal healing time ,Is mild and usually tolerated by most individuals .
Only need to use just enough to keep the tattooed area slightly moisturised
NEVER dry but NEVER over wet.

I do believe mine has completely healed. It feels smooth, doesnt get dry, doesnt hurt, looks like normal skin. It was a bit itchy before, not now. I believe itchy is the last stage of the healing process. Only took a little over a week.

Forgot to mention before, I started with neosporin the day of and the next day. Then AD for like 3 or 4 days. Then plain lotion up til now.

Every artist I've ever spoken with has said to avoid neosporin like the plague; that it fades and can alter the ink color. I've only used it once as a spot treatment for one section that got infected because it got dirty and then moisture locked only two days in after the tat session. It hard scabbed and trapped moisture under the scab which then got infected. The neosporin cleared the infection and then I used alcohol shock treatments to dry it out.

Never heard of that one, Midnight, will have to look into it.

Weird the artist that did mine said to use it because you absolutely don't want it getting infected. I didnt notice any fading/color change from it.

I didnt use it a lot though, only right after I got it and the next morning and very light coat.

Great detail on that one Sig.

Always wanted to get a small icon/symbol. I have a few ideas in a folder somewhere.

Problem is deciding where to put it :p

Thanks! Unfortunately it faded some and needs a retouch eventually.

There are two great problems for tattoo lovers;
1) where do I put it?
2) how do I pay for it?
