Re: FS: sterling silver 10440 host
I defiantly could make an 18650 host in silver. The problem is the sheer cost of that much silver is going to be in the $175-$225 price range just for me purchasing the silver to make it with (estimating around 7 troy ounces or so for the silver. Current price on silver on the world's spot market is $24 a troy ounce. After the markup to buy it as sterling casting shot, and the shipping costs it's closer to $26 an ounce. Then there is extra additional labor to make it. It's going to take much longer to finish a piece that large. I would expect $250-$300 USD for the price tag on such a piece. I plan on making one sooner or later. However I planned on selling a few 10440 hosts to make certain people are interested in silver hosts first. Still a custom piece is definitely possible. Though I would only take on one custom piece at a time.
One problem though. I see you are in Brazil. It does have some import duties. A quick google search shows up this info...
Brazil Import Tax Basics:
* If you want to send shipments to Brazil by door-to-door courier, Brazilian law only allows goods to enter if the goods have no commercial value, or are destined for private use only, and have a value of under USD 3,000.
* Within those limits a courier such as FedEx will be able to issue clearance.
* However, despite being within the allowed limits mentioned, the goods WILL be subject to duties and taxes if the value is over USD 50.00
* Duties and taxes could add another 100% (!) to the goods price, e.g. 60% import duty + 18% sales tax + around USD 10.00 for customs administrative charges.
* Books and documents are duty exempt, except for advertisement and printing materials.
* Goods entering Brazil destined for resale need to be cleared through customs with a broker and will attract duties according to standard Harmonised Tariff categories.
I don't know how much you would end up paying for import duties. However a potential 100% additional is rather daunting. Given the need to insure something like that would make it rather hard to slip it by customs at a low value.
I loved it. But I have a question, do you accept custom orders? Like sterling silver 18650 host?
Thanks
