Sharp 490nm GH04850B2G 55mW Laser Diode

Re: Sharp 495nm GH04850B2G 55mW Laser Diode

These are clearly marked as 495nm diodes on the outside of the diode container. I have said it before, but I will be surprised if any of these are 488nm. I don't know yet, I am only going by what I've seen so far, people eyes notwithstanding.

Do you mean the code on top or are you seeing some other marking? I looked for something else but did not see anything.

Mine was labeled 495nm on the antistatic bag holding all the diodes too. I'm curious to see where these diodes turn out on the spectrometer!

Listing the datasheet max if it makes the laser more appealing than other listings they are selling against seems to be getting pretty common. The max is supposed to be the most extreme deviation from the norm.

The micro-printing around the diode window is SB303B292, just like the one in this photo, Jordan. I have preliminary results and I have never been so happy to be proved wrong.

I tested the first five at varying currents from as low as 55 mA to 130 mA. So far what I think I'm seeing is the wavelength increases by ~1nm between these two currents, temperature being constant.

In order of wavelength the first five are:
487.2nm at 55 mA and 488.3nm at 130 mA
486.8nm at 55 mA
487..4nm at 70 mA
490.3nm at 120 mA
491.8nm at 100 mA

This is great news to me and I hope to all of you. :thanks:

Re: Sharp 495nm GH04850B2G 55mW Laser Diode

Looking good, Paul, thanks for the quick testing! :yh:

Re: Sharp 495nm GH04850B2G 55mW Laser Diode

That's excellent news Paul! I can't wait to see how the others do.

Can't wait to get these in my hands.

Re: Sharp 495nm GH04850B2G 55mW Laser Diode

I know there are definitely 488nm diodes here. I haven't seen one at 492nm yet, but 491.8nm is close enough to believe they are very close to the 495nm ones with some much lower wavelengths among the >490nm ones. I know what I will be building next. :yh:

Re: Sharp 495nm GH04850B2G 55mW Laser Diode

Looking at the first 5 they have an average of 489, that's awesome. :D

Most are shaking out around 490nm so far. Some are a bit higher....some a bit lower. But, most are right around 490.5nm. I still have nine more to measure out of this batch, but have about ten more on the way, so..........

I've placed my order for two....
Thinking of putting them in a 22mm Vape heatsink setup.
Can't wait.
Thanks Jordan.

That’s brilliant. :) Thanks for testing them again Paul. I would definitely look into a 490nm later. This is exciting. That’s the whole light blue-cyan to cyan-aqua section covered. Someone could buy a low, mid and high wl diode each and be very happy with the colour of all of them. Is this a supply of diodes we are always going to have now? Also when is someone going to discover cheap 580nm’s? :p

Yes, awesome. Half of them are 488-489. Epic. Gotta celebrate, 488 are now available to us
I’m getting one myself in PGL-III-M host!
