No I took it down figuring the sale was undermined, with all the static that when on. I might just put it in mothballs and put the diode and driver in a pen build. Its a great build small and compact . And reasonably priced as well ,Thanks for asking Pal.

What? Just put the camo 501B back up.
What was it? $125 I think. Just how much cheaper can you make it? Some just might not realize how much work it is to machine the sink and knobs, on top of the stock and host costs.
I guess let them get some cheap China crap and if something were to go wrong, good luck then

That actually might make sense.

If the one Life has is running on a flexdrive and giving more than about 30mW at the start and ticking up slightly as it warms(as the forward voltage drops from the warming) then it would be a PL520B. The PL520's forward voltage is too high for the flex unless you remove the reverse polarity diode. When doing so it will do as described with the very low power getting slightly stronger as the unit warms up but never reaching full regulation with the flexdrive but the lower forward on the PL520B lets it fully power with the flex basically switching to voltage regulation that is controlled thermally instead of by current regulation. I had a strange bird that actually purchased quite a few of them like that over over a period of time so am very familiar with how they act on the Flexdrive. Don't ask the customer is always right. :tinfoil:

Anyway that power is higher than I can remember ever seeing out of a PL520. Two ways I know to be sure.. One is on the PL520B with a G-2 lens you don't get the strange line artifact that the PL520 makes. Second is to check the forward as the PL520B is qutie a bit lower making it much more efficient. Here found this picture from an old thread that gives an idea what I mean.

Here's what's interesting. Before I used a g-2 lens, I expected the divergence to be worse than a 3 element glass lens, but since this is single mode, the divergence is not affected at all. There also seems to be an artifact from it too.

Here is a Thor host with a 495nm diode and flex drive set to 220mA with a G2 lens. The battery tube is bored out to take @ X 18350's or 1 X 18650 cells. The Full copper heat sink is a full
2+ inches long with a copper focus adapter.

Oh okay, as rich said thanks for clarifying this, as soon as I get home I’m gonna see if I can find out for sure, unfortunately I’m using a SL round driver which isn’t a flex? But I do have a G2 so will this work for the SL round driver?

Hi GSS,
These are really cool hosts but they need a lot of modifications to work for you. They originally take a 2X16340's but i bore out the tube for 2X18350's and have to mod for the contact board. Also bore out the front sink for the machined copper heatsink that run all the way down the tube . at least some one has an awesome WL very happy with the results.

Hi Red,
This is a EDC with a 3X Sanwu BE adapter fitted to the sink. Takes 1X14500 cell. it has an option of AL.CU or AL with a CuCore pressed in. They come i n colors also. If your looking for an EDC for the single mode this fits the bill. Also if you don't need the BE it ill come with a focus adapter. Choice of AL.CU , or AL with a CU core.

Hi, Thank you guys these small P&P's are a great way to build a EDC . And yes the O 700 638 with a 3X BE installed works great for the beams on there e reds . I have a 660 that SGD sent me going into a Red host with an extended sink , should a nice build.

I’ve got a few EDCs now. Gonna def have to consider one of these. I used to concealed carry before I moved to JP. Now, I conceal carry nice lasers :crackup: of course, I would never employ these as defensive weapons. Pure enjoyment. Whenever I move back CONUS, my EDC will be Pistol, knife, and now laser :beer:

Rich, yet another incredible build , Your prices are unbeatable, can't believe for such a rare diode, that might not be obtainable anymore, the time you put into each and every one of your builds and the fact it's ready to buy & tested, your asking under $200 :drool:, we members are getting spoilt :beer:
