PS3 KES-410A Laser Diode

has anyone used these before?


i tried searching and coudlnt find anything

anyways i was wondering if this produces a blu ray color and if it can be put up to high powers like the 803t's can?

also if anyone has a link to more info on them that would be great!

i have found a few things on the older 400 sleds and found a few random videos on them but are the new 410's gonna be pretty much the same?

how much power can these take?

The original PS3 sleds sold by DDL were KES-400A ---- The LD's in these would go to about 12 mW of 405 nM. I hope the 410's are more powerful!

I have a feeling that these may be a red or IR diode. Take a look at the AR coating on the diode windows in the picture with the bag full of diodes. It looks like it has a slightly blue hue to it, whereas the 405 coating is yellow. Hmmm...

EDIT: Just noticed that they also sell a 4-pin diode from the 410 sled. This would most likely be the Red/IR diode. So who knows, maybe this new 3-pin diode has some kick to it. Only one way to find out! I'll be the guinea pig!!

Hmmm, I hope these diodes are a little more powerful then their wimpy counterpart. These really could come in handy if I want to sell low powered violets at my school. (Or is that a bad idea..?)

That photo shows a bag full of 'used' diodes. Soldered and bent pins. What do you think that means? Still it's cheap

I love how not long ago, they were only selling replacement sleds. Now thanks to us, they have figured out that the diodes themselves are valuable and are selling them alone. How long before they offer just the 803-t's by themselves???

Do we really want someone at a mass production table in China removing our diodes from the sled and desoldering the ribbon cable?

^Well, someone at a mass manufacturing center in China quite possibly made the thing in the first place. It was definitely someone at a mass manufacturing facility somewhere in Asia.

If they work and work well, I don't see the problem with it. If they don't work, we'll find out soon enough, I reckon.

Now the bigger question is:

"Can you press it into a module for me too?"

im sure these mass production guys are trained to be very fast and dont take more than a second to remove the solder per pin

I like how they don't give any information about the diodes... ie what wavelength/power?  It's like the laser diode lottery  ;D

although, if either is violet (I'm guessing the 3 pin?), then that's a great price, even if just low powered.
