that thing does look nice. i was gonna order 1 when i made my last order with dx but at the last second i deleted it from my cart. seeing that finished 1 makes me regret it.... :'(

Yeah, pictures on DX do not do it justice. Even the above picture doesn't... When i was delivered like a gazillion of wrong hosts, i thought this would be an OK replacement.

But when i got it, i fell in love with it immediatelly. I couldn't put it down anymore. Especially after the laser was in.. ;)
It looks and feels amazing.

However, there is one problem with it. Protected batteries don't fit into the SAIK. That's why i kept the SAIK for myself, and used almost identical looking Rominsens for everyone else. But Rominsens officially aren't even available - they ship out a random mix! Luckily i know someone at DX...

The other problem is, that it's not easy to turn into a laser. There are no usefull parts in it, and even an AixiZ module doesn't fit - too little room. I have to make the module from scratch - a 27mm long, 18mm dia aluminum module, that is also a heatsink, unscrews at the top, and contains the entire laser. I even had to cut 1/3 of my driver away, to make it fit. It's now 13x9mm. It's hard to make them, but the end results are worth it. ;)

And in just a few days, this host will contain a 6x! :D

Maelstrom, your laser looks cool! This is another model, where DX pictures don't look too flattering.. But in your pictures it looks very good.

BTW, what did you use for that rounded heatsink?

anyone know the host maelstrom used unfortunately I can't quote malestrom because he has images in his post which are links Eh : /

I don't know the SKU, but i saw it on DX, when going through all flashlights..

You're just gonna have to go through all of them yourself, i'm afraid. I remember, they are available in different colors too.

lol not sure im willing to sell yet.

i need to speak to a "man about a dog" see if i can get more.

probably gona be £5-10 each not sure yet.

its not just the case its a whole laser, but the insides are easy to take out

^Mark me interested in leadlight cases, and even more so if they come in at the low end of that there estimate. (5 GBP is almost exactly 10 USD at the moment, add shipping and it's quite reasonable)

i might this is a might, be able toget hold of 30 of them

but unlikely to be £5 more like £7-10, postage wont be much £3 world wide

I'd be interested in leadlights... I'm sure they'd look more polished than this pen host I just finished making...

Yeah, I'd take at least one of them. As an aside, are they red or green pointers to start with?

I think I see a "630" on that sticker, so I'm guessing they're red.

I'm in for at least one, maybe as many as 5 depending on the final price inc shipping to Canada...

there red, think 1mw

when i get back from holiday ill try knock up a detailed guide on how to turn on into a 405nm pointer.

when taking the insides out the red you need it all intact. you need the plastic holder and driver from the red.
