When have you ever talked to me about where I get my heatsinks made?!?

I have at some point or another sourced heatsinks from a lot of the machinists on the forum. Eud, Lazeerer, Moh, Jayrob, Bobhaha, Ray, Wolf, Helios, and I may be forgetting a few others. I don't "generally source to Wolfman". I've ordered a few heatsinks from him (two sets), but hundreds from elsewhere.

I don't know why you're talking like you know how I do things....or where you're getting your info - I'm pretty sure I've never discussed this with you.

Jayrob also can do heat sinks. If you measure carefully I'm sure your local machine shop could do it. Or you can pay out the hind end for emachineshop dot com.

Keep an eye on "the Chinese" though, make sure they don't send you copper samples and then make you copper plated aluminum bulk quantities.

Also, if possible shoot for pure 101 copper. Even the SMALLEST additions of alloys radically change the thermal conductivity of copper. It is insane how little it takes to bring it down around aluminum - at which point you might have well just used aluminum. :(

@rhd - he asked me who I did work for and I said, I mostly do it for rhd. It may have been some confusion. While it's true most of the machine work I have done was for you, I certainly did not say that most of the machine work that was done for you was by me. May have just been a source of confusion there. Wanted to clear things up ^_^

@tsteele: I am thinking I am going to be doing pricing at around $18 or so... considering these can drive past 2A and they can take upwards of 10V (more, but that would imply using bigger caps which I can't fit on my FlexDrive-sized board ;) ).
 
That doesn't sound bad if they can truly run more than 2amps.

At that point I would consider upping size some anyway because it is probably going to need to be in a bigger host with some good heat sinking!
 
Actually, with just a little copper heatsink I thermally glued onto it, it is capable of running for a good while. I haven't had it scoped yet, but I have one running a 445nm at 1.57A or so, and it doesn't mind being on for a while, nor does it kill the diode (indicating that the ripple isn't too high).
 
Yea but driving a 445 at 2 amps needs a good bit if heat sinking like saik grade
