^No driver there, just a series resistor. But it doesn't need to be regulated well, it's just an aiming beam. And you can get hundreds of button cells for a few dollars.

Hey Cy do you think they are really 650nm and the big question is 70 pieces? If so I will buy some at that price. It would make one hell of a brake for my Harley:crackup:
Now what to do with the rest of them? You had some great ideas. mmmmm a binary projection clock.

I don't doubt that they're 650nm. Look through ebay and other sites and you'll find them for extremely cheap. Now, if they claimed to be 635nm, then I would be skeptical :P

Maybe I'll do a review when I get them. If they're anything like other cheap reds I've tested, they'll be in the 655-660nm range.

A legitimate 70 pieces? Sure - why not? They don't even have a laser can, it's just a chip on the PCB with a resistor and lens in front. There's no reason that should be expensive.

Several Helium Neon lasers, WITH power supplies, are up for auction on eBay. all from the same seller. The bidding was started low, so for those interested, you have a good shot at picking up a HeNe for a relatively low cost. Further, for those in the need, there is an LPM listed by the same seller, that measures low output, and would be ideal in measuring 632.8nm HeNes.

Yeah I have had my eye on those. The low power LPM intrigues me.

Decided against that other one, I have plenty of potted HeNe's.

It has been years since I have taken apart a cheap laser pointer. Not much to them like you said lens,circuit board,resister. But they were all square/rectangle dots. Maybe I will get some.

I'm only interested in the higher power #2. But if anyone wants to bid on it, please do. I'm not sure I'll commit until near the end.
