Nichia keeps pushing the envelop because their most recent NUBB** arrays boast incredible power. I almost snagged a NUBB23 (22W's) a few months back but now it seems they have an updated 8 LD array called the NUBB14T (40W) and a 10 LD array called the NUBB28 (54W), both of which appear to have the same two array block foot print as the older NUBBM23.

If someone can machine a knife edge block that just bolts to the top of this thing it would be incredible!

I have tested these and although the spacing between chips is better, the focal length is shorter ( gang lens sits closer ) as it's a smaller package made for smaller devices no doubt.

NUBM35 in back and NUBB23 up close, the beam bundle looks good to start, but has already fanned out worse than the NUBM35 by only 2 meters.

NUBM35 on Right and NUBB23 on left, this is at 2 meters and it gets worse from there. Remember the divergence of each beam is uneven as well. So for work at any distance these are not useful, however for home CNC applications they could be useful.

How about taking the factory lens off?🤔
And yes this are made for and used in smaller form factor projectors.

I took the gang lens off and attempted to focus it longer but not much improvement, the raw output is just like 4 x NUBM44's without any lens....... basically a blue floodlight.

I look forward to when visible fiber lasers are available. There is no technical reason they aren’t already available now. Even a short fiber of few feet could easily give 50w with a good beam. I tried to order some fiber from France and they just won’t sell it to me. I wanted to make a 200mw yellow driven by 445nm diodes. It’s stupid easy. Anyway nice array for cutting stuff.

Little did I know what I started all those years ago----
can you believe?
