Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Here is a (very expensive) M60 tank laser rangefinder- the son of the SSY1.
HIGH POWER RUBY LASER M60 TANK LASER HEAD | eBay

its so not fair that 20-30 year old US surplus is still on the "no export" list, I so want a pumped solid state laser, and building one from scratch with a surplus YAG rod seems a little daunting.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

That's no YAG, Thats a ruby! Holy cow I've been looking for one for a longgg time! Nice find!

Why $800??? :(

I thought it was an SSY-1 at first too, but the last photo shows the end of the ruby rod.

Export is one thing, built how would you import that sucker into AU? Isn't it illegal?

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

I know! Visible dark red pulsed goodness!
I've read about these on SAMs site but never seen one for sale.
Not illegal here unless its hand held and battery powered. Mains powered non portables are fine.

Yeah $800 seems a bit much although he has built his own motor control and power supply for it I guess. The Q switch on these is a high speed motor driven prism.

Surplus YAG's are rare here and ruby lasers are almost unheard of. My Dad facets gemstones and has some ruby rod off-cuts and I always wondered if I could get that to lase.

Typing this on my iPhone while shopping lol

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

^^Sam has tons of information on the synthesis of ruby rods. Iirc, they are somewhat of a different animal than what the jewel industry might make them. There's a large section about glass you can read on as well.

Jeff thanks for the link! I can't believe hes touching the ends of the rod with the caliper. That's sort of a big no-no.

linking this from a deals forum thread..
http://laserpointerforums.com/f46/4-35-405nm-ebay-pen-super-overspect-must-see-77135.html
mine just came- see post #131
best was 105mW peak using a single 18650 just normal charger(3.75vdc with no load DMM Fluke) using two AAA good but not new I got 92mW kenometer lite.
not shabby at all for $4.61 free ship 19 days to me..

when they first came out I HAD to grab a 405 pen- snipped until I 'lucked out' and got a true 5mW for only $140 from Sunclan Lasers== later they told me I could increase the current and get closer to 100mW- NOT a PHR like I have ever seen.

I don't know if any of you use these or not, I find them to be a huge improvement in my attempts to be organized. This is the best price I have seen in them so far...

20pcs SMT SMD Kit Laboratory Components Storage box Z | eBay

I love mine. They are kind of cheap and the doors catch sometimes, but the GOOD ones are really expensive and these work pretty well.

I have a template to print out labels for them if anyone needs them.

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Thanks for the SMD organizer box. I just grabbed a set.

Speaking of SMD's, does anyone know/have low Ohm SMD resistors?
Specifically, I'm looking for 1206 sized resistors at 0.10, 0.15, 0.20, and 0.25 Ohms.
I'm trying to mod LED and laser drivers and trying to find replacement current sense resistors. No hits on ebay. :undecided:

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

0-10V 0-2A bench PSU at $26 as of this post
0-30V 0-5A bench PSU at $40 as of this post

Not real cheap, but...

CRL1206-FW-R200ELF - BOURNS - RESISTOR, THICK FILM, 0.2 OHM | Newark

CRM1206-FX-R100ELF - BOURNS - RESISTOR, THICK FILM, 0.1 OHM | Newark

This says you have to buy 4,000 minimum but they don't HAVE 4,000 and when that happens, they will sell you any amount. I priced 5 and I think they were about a nickel each...

CRL1206-JW-R150ELF - BOURNS - RESISTOR, THICK FILM, 0.15 OHM | Newark

You may want to look at mouser or somewhere else for these!

LRC-LR1206LF-01-R250-F - INTERNATIONAL RESISTIVE - RESISTOR, CUR SENSE, 0.25 OHM | Newark

1206 sounds HUGE for sense resistors though. Most of them I've seen use 0603 or 0805 in pairs.

So I assume it's a no go to compete with others on this forum? I kinda want that yellow too :P

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Wow $26 for a yellow HeNe!
Yeah I think it's considered bad form to bid against other members who posted finds here. Jeez wish I had seen that first!

Re: PERMANENT THREAD: Ebay& other internet FINDS of interest- read all the OP please

Is that a good price for those? What do they normally sell for?
