Link: Plate Filter Beamsplitter 50 7mm x 22mm Pack of 10 L14550 | eBay

Edit: I should have put the price in, ten for 15 dollars. If anyone knows what these really are, or what gold with blue might be if a dichroic beamsplitter, please post. Thanks!

From the ebay web page:

These are beauties. Front surface has a gold coating. Light reflection appears gold but if you look thru it it the image appears blue. Looks like about 50 percent reflection and 50 percent transmission. 50.7mm long by 22mm wide by 1.4mm thick.

These are used in education, astronomy, microscopy, and with lasers.

We don't have any more specifics for this and our price reflects the lack of more data. Omega sells a similar looking one for over $30 each. Our price is for a package of 10. At this price you can have some for your friends, associates, and students. Get everyone's creative juices goint.

One of our customers supplied these thoughts: "I think you'll find that the beamsplitters you're selling as your deal of the week are actually dichroic beamsplitters. They function as a combination of high-pass filter and low-pass filter." Thanks for the suggestion, Rick. PRICE IS FOR A PACKAGE OF 10

Yep, definitely dichros. Yellow is red+green (so RG reflect) and the blue is passing, so its a reflect RG transmit B dichro. Good price!

555th post! quite a special qavelength (butt ugly in my opinion though XD)

Thanks, appreciate the feed back on that.

Here's another item I've been looking at, cheap IR laser diode but does anyone know if this is likely single mode? I am still waiting for Banggood to respond, but I'm not hopeful they will be able to answer that question, or give me the manufacturers part number if they don't list it already for some reason. But then, where did they get the specifications? One buyer complained they didn't pack his diodes in anti-static bags, has me concerned if they might do that again. Anyway, sharing the info:

Hello folks, I received my Thor 520 today. It is actually not bad! However, when it arrived, I thought it was a piece of @#$%. Of course, all of the problems were fixed after I applied a few basic modifications.

1. The laser frequently turned off, this is because the module was shaking around. So I screwed it in properly.
2. The lens was shaking too, so I used a small screwdriver and turned it the right way. :D
3. Adjusting the focus made a horrific screeching sound, so I added some teflon tape and now it's silent.

It is also a bit underspec, probably because the diode is being underdriven, but also a bit lower in wavelength than my other 520. I suppose that's because it's being underdriven as well. So I guess I have another wavelength now. :D

I may make a full review later if I have time. :)

Mine come in too.
1. I could not put in the 2 batteries. Mmmm
2. Had to take apart and found the problem. The driver and plastic parts were all loose. Reassembled and now it works.
3. Under powered by my Laserbee I need to dig out my Ophir and recheck. But looks like about 25-30Mw output.

That's unfortunate if it is not putting out 50mw, especially since techhood said it's a PL520 diode inside. I don't see why they would underpower a 50mw rated diode, do you think that it's a different diode?

Is it possible to access and adjust the driver, or maybe even replace the driver with an adjustable one?

Hows the quality of the host? Id love to see a picture of the whole laser, sometimes the sellers pictures are very misleading but for the price it looked like a decent 520

The laser host is the standard Thor M-II host, the one that has no regard for symmetry. The images are definitely wrong.

You can get to the driver very easy but, it's not adjustable. When I find my Ophir I will take some pictures of the host with new readings. My Laserbee always reads low on the green spectrum.

Not sure if anyone has.posted this deal yet but there's a fantastic price on Feilong 32650 sold in the US with free shipping. Shows 3 sets left. I bought 1 set that I've already received and just bought 2 more sets this morning.
2 PC Feilong 32650 3 7V 6000mAh Li ion Rechargeable Battery | eBay
They fit 2D maglights great if you cut down the springs which I found to be very easy to do. You cut part of the bottom (wider) part of the spring and leave the upper part alone and then clean off the anodizing from the part of the cap that it will touch. Super easy to do if you have a dremel with a wide steel fan brush.

Illumination Supply is having an "Xtar" battery charger sale, all Xtar chargers are 20% off with code XTAR, including their Rocket SV2 charger that will charge 32650 cells. :)
Unfortunately, it looks as if the sale is only good till 8/1.

Is $15 for a 350V 10,000uF capacitor a good deal?
I've got an opportunity to buy three of these that came from a medical Nd:YAG laser, but I'm hesitant as I don't know what it's worth.

I would get the rest of the laser but its priced too high :(.

EDIT: yes it is electrolytic

It depends. Used electrolytics are a gamble, especially when they get old. I guess it depends on whether you can get news ones for a comparable price, or are stuck with used ones only.

For those of you wanting to have a fairly long focal length 1 inch diameter anti-reflectance PCX VIS lens, this isn't too bad a price. The focal length is too long for most laser diodes to use it straight out as a collimator, but it might work for some single mode diodes. Check the spot size of the raw output at 175mm to know, shouldn't be more than 90-95% the diameter of the lens in most cases, I believe. I bet these aren't moving for the seller due to the long FL, might email them and ask for a better deal.

Here's a real deal, if you can use both the lens and the adjustable mount, looks yellow at one angle, blue at another, not sure what wavelength this is for. Yellow is normally for CO2 lasers.

They may also be dielectric mirrors for 633nm/HeNe lasers. I've seen that gold/purple color on some of the mirrors that Meredith Instruments was selling in one of their assortment bundles.
