NUBM08 4.3W 455nm Laser Diode

The new stock lens looks to be a shorter focal length lens.

I will add more details as I get time to test them. The divergence from first glance seems the same as the NUBM44.

The diode has a pretty hard knee at 5A. I think 4A will be the sweet spot for this diode. It is bluer than the NUBM44 but not nearly as blue as the NUBM07E. In the middle mabye a little closer to the NUBM44 but that bump in wavelength will give it a pretty serious bump in visibility.

I could see the color difference right away and it looks good.

The 6X pair should work well on these as well as the 3X expander.

Yep not as powerfull but I'll take 455 over 445 anyday,

So no tension plate or is that on all spec sheets!

I hear ya BBB:) I'm not convinced I need a 44 at all.
Depending on cost if it's close to the 44 I would rather have one of these pushed to the higher wavelength shift than a 44 and wait for something more powerful. Just bought another 07E from Jordan that will be arriving today that I'll push at least as hard as my other one as 470nm+ is so much nicer than the extra output of a 44. Should have the time to put it together today. My guess is that this diode may be hitting the 462+ range like the other lower output diodes and is a good buy to get a more powerful one of those if the price is right. I'll be seriously considering one if the deal is decent. Have a 2C Mag ready to go for it.

Didn't realize you already had them up for sale J. Price is in the ballpark of the others:) Need to wait a couple weeks I think before going spending another bunch of $.
Is the diode going to be officially tested to see what the actual wavelength is doing before and after the shift? Need to see that before a final decision.

The beam looks tight where it comes out of the Gball from the angle we see it in the pics, I do need to see the other axis.
I want to go from the Gball straight into a 3X expander, but I may end up using a g2 and or cyl shaping, but the Gball output on the nubm06 is a shorter line at distance than the G2 albeit a bit thicker, it will be fun to work with and I love the look of 455 in that pic,
470nm is almost too bright like a flashlight, it loses some of the mystique, but 455 may be my new favorite, time will tell.

405 is deep and understated, I think it's gorgeous as well, but if it was pink....no

Well I built my second 07E today and kicked the sxd up all the way which is supposedly around 5.5A and was amazed at how different the color is from my 4.8A other one. Very big difference. Haven't taken any pics yet as I am now in bed because my kidney pain is way up but I'm positive any camera will pick up the difference. The difference between my 462 units and the 4.8A 07E is huge but I sure didn't expect this new one to look so different pushing it hard.
Yes I chose to push it hard and if something goes wrong it's my problem so no worries peoples;) For now i have no plans on dialing it down. Sorry I can't take the pics yet. I'm sure I can get them up tomorrow. To me I swear there's just a hint of green in there but I don't think it will be seen in pics.

As I thought the divergence is an exact match with the NUBM44. Here are both with G-2 lenses.

What does the line look like at that same distance through the factory Gball?

Was just setting up for that and the g-ball fell off. Barley touched it. These G-ball lenses come off way easier than the others. The lightest touch and they seem to fall off. I will have to mount up another when I get a moment to do that test.

I just got a 6X cylindrical lens pair and have been thinking of pulling the trigger on one of these MM diodes with greater divergence along the slow axis. Thanks for the information on this new diode. I know there has been a lot of speculation about it's power output.

On another note just tried to put the G-Ball on a NDB7875 diode as I thought that would be awesome but apparently it would need to be just a hair closer to the diode to get to focus.:(

I have cut the can down on a Gball to focus a M-140 and it made wings at the focus, apparently they are tuned to the diode somehow, the Gball is a strange one.

I know the NUBM07e at 15 feet with it's Gball on makes a 25x50mm box, about 1 x 2 inches

But a NUBM06 with it's Gball on at 15 feet makes a 25mm long line about 5mm thick, or about 1 inch by a 1/4 inch and that would likely work well with a sanwu 3X expander, I actually want another nubm06 when you get them in again.

This is the NUBM06 at 15 feet through it's Gball

This is the NUBM07e through it's Gball at 15 feet, it's way different somehow, the spot is 1 x 2 inches, so there's no telling what the NUBM08 is until we see it.

The NUBM44 at 15 feet with a G2 lens makes a 2 inch long line, so if the Gball NUBM08 comes up shorter and not too tall, then it may be worth using with a 3X expander as is, if not then a 3 element and 3X expander should burn nicely, or go all the way with cyl shapers.

I think 455 will be a good looking color, like when you find that freak 445 that's special.
The 1st thumbnail below is a NUBM44 with a G2 at 15 feet.
I could not attach all the NUBM08 pics so the rest are 4 or 5 post ahead.
