New M!t$ub!$h! 638nm 0.6W diode, "soon".

Usually the rated pulse output is a pretty good indicator on how far we can push these.

Are you ready for 1500mW 635nm handhelds? :takeit:

This morning I received the datasheet of the new diode from M!t$ub!$h!, which is in preparation.

According to my contact from M!t$ub!$h! there is still no fixed date for its launch, But when diode are ready, he will tell me.

Because it is a confidential document, I can not share it with you, sorry, but here I leave some of their characteristics.

High Output Power: 1.5W (Pulse) 0.6W (CW)

• High Efficiency: 1.0mW/mA (typ.)

• Visible Light: 638nm (typ.)

φ5.6mm Capless PKG

Sounds like another open can design? Someone better take some macro photos of these suckers whenever they actually do make it out.

:yh: :yh:

I agree with you Yob, But it was an average estimate!!
Anyways Thanks for pointing out..
Still though !! It, would be cool if they follow my idea

EDIT: i too have had a 400mW red @597mA!! I know the drill !! :D

To date single mode reds (5.6mm LPC's) arnt capable of excess of 300mW

Sorry, this didn't sound like an "average estimate" to me. It sounded more like a precise statement.

whenever you see Ka5io or Mit5ub it is not a typo, there is very good reason for you to follow suit- we all will know who you mean. Like wise for 5paghetti.. PeeLee etc etc.

Companies do not like us using thier names. There have been many threads/posts about this mainly about Ka5io.. if you type a name and it appears as ******* thats your clue..

The only company that has ever put pressure on the community that I know of was Ca$io. We have used the name of many manufacturers for years and I have never heard of any problems.

Ca$io is not a diode producer which is one of the reasons they had a problem with it as all the negative news of the 445 diodes were always linked to Ca$io like they make them which is not true as they are Nichia diodes. They only put pressure as they want to distance themselves from unintended use of third party diodes being linked back to them.

I don't see any reason to not say Opnext, Osram, Nichia, Mitsubishi, ect. They are actual diode manufacturers and it is accurate to say they make the diodes.

MIA thats too damn funny !! We should'nt be back-biting Dr.L !!

At combining two or more reds.. I've seen 10 of them knife-edged i dont remember whose thread was that!! Sorry but its been done.. Not in a handheld though if thats what u mean!!

Yup I meant handheld. Nothing too exciting about it in a labbie to me.

Yes please :p

Ok my bad!! but that's one way to put it..
Their rated output on the sheets are always nominal as compared what u can get out of them if u push it to the limits.. And i hear your point i totally get it..
I feel like offtopic anyways! Hope it cleared the confusion!!

Well Said!! And Its definitely a genuine explaination!!

maybe worring about the legality of selling completed non- FDA compliant lasers openly over 5 mWs should be of more concern.... just saying..

Yeah I hope laser diode producers don't get mad at us for using their diodes, And giving them free publicity by using their names and drawing thousands of people to produce hand held lasers with their products.

Personal use of high powered lasers is legal in the U.S, they just have to be FDA compliant to be imported.

Damn those 635nM's are really are really coming up! Before you know it we see lazeerer yobresal sell a 2.3W 635nM with 5 modes in an schweet host lol or wannaburn with a dual ld 3.5W 635nM!

Damn my imagination! Cant help myself lol :pop:

Greetings,,

. . .
I don't see any reason to not say Opnext, Osram, Nic_ia, Mitsubishi, ect. They are actual diode manufacturers and it is accurate to say they make the diodes.

Nic_ia is very concerned about liability from casual use of their laser diodes.
They check out anybody trying to buy UV LD's.

I would not use even the manufacturer names in posts.

Here is a interesting chart from Mit$ubi$hi:

I agree. We should avoid using any manufacturer or company's names. We don't want too much attention from search engines and web crawlers especially with a touchy subject like diode extraction and "casual use" of high powered diodes.

However, we should censor it in a way where users can still decipher what the real brand name is. So Nic_ia is not a good censor. N!ch!a is good because we can still figure out ! = i.

Even though That 8W ML5CP50 is in the poor beam speck range, I'd be willing to pay $50-100 on correcting optics for 8000mW of red. Thoughts?

First off that 8W is a laser array. Not a single diode. And second off where you gonna find one and do you have the cash to buy one let alone correction optics?

If the price was around that of a decent 589 then I'd save for one. However if it's around $2000+ then that's a whole other story. Keep in mind it's 8W of red. There are a few who have paid in the thousands for a few watts of green, so it's not too "out there" of a theory.

Of course they have to do their due diligence in their distribution chain but as far as I know no other company other than Ca$io has ever unlawfully requested that we censor our free speech. So now we are supposed to live in fear and censor ourselves on what these companies may think about our 1st amendment rights.
