New 9mm 445 diodes

No point in saving 50 bucks on a lens when you potentialy have the most powerfull 445 diode in the world :eg:

How does the included lens stack up?

The Included lens is very Good. I have not done Extencive testing on it but it does put out a little more then a G lens.

HOWEVER the Divergence is worse. Nothing Major. Its due to the Shorter FL but its there.

I dont know the actual lens iam using as i bought it brand new second hand but it something along the lines as this:
Thorlabs.com - 355660-A f=2.97mm, NA=0.60, Unmounted Geltech Aspheric Lens, AR: 400-600 nm

THe shape of the lens helps "Correct" Some of the worse divergence of the Shorter FL.

lol never saw the trollface till you mention it :p anyway good job DTR and Lazeerer!! You guys break records! awesome :pop:

greetings,,

beat this guys!

You have good photo shop skills Mitch.

I could not tell the difference between my REAL LPM shot of it doing more 3.37W and your photo shop redo of it.

Maybe i should make a video for you guys.:D Though i would have to take everything apart again.

THe funny thing is In the real picture that is not even the max that diode can do.:) I cut it short and snapped the picture late.

At 2.2A which is the highest i have taken it is doing More then 3.4W.

I must say it is Freaking Bright as hell.

It took a long time to find the perfect setup for this build.

First at 2.2A i could only get it to ~3.3W Somewhat stable.

With the new Heatsink Design it allowed me to do some other changes and give me a Huge kick in power.:)

WHen you see the final Power Output and how stable it is its going to blow you away. I was telling DTR that i cant believe it to this day that we are hitting 500mW short of 4W with these diodes. Its freaking UN real.

I have 1 more diode that is a little more efficient then this one that i might switch out. However i have not compared them at high power on ~1.5W and the second diode does ~60mW more at that power.

So if it keeps up its efficiency that means i will get even a higher power then this at the high power range.

I wanna see one of these diodes on a TEC staying ICE cool. I bet you could get pretty close to 4W.

Whoa! 3.3W! I didn't realize these were hitting over 3W on a regular basis. That's phenomenal.

Going to read through this thread in more detail after work.

justinjja is working on a maglight build with a TEC... he's at about 3W right now and the diode is below ambient.

Lol just saw the troll. And its 5am, I'm sleep deprived and about to get on a plane !
I would have added an extra 8 and said it was a CO2 / diode hybrid...

It surely is not a regular basis. I would say 2.5W-2.9W can be expected out of any of them.:)
