YouTube - 12x Blu-Ray Laser Pointer

Just purchased this 12x blu-ray with not much use at all from rtyrty100 :thanks:. Apparently Daguin upgraded it :D -- it's in an Igor host w/ Igor heatsink (yay) so of course I immediately fell in love with it.. Pair of safety glasses is coming to me now (for now I'm just using some sunglasses [NOTE: tested them they cut the ~550mW down to ~25mW :takeit: ]).

Just wanted to make a shoutout about my first blu-ray and that I love it!! Wooo!

If anyone has some blu-ray/laser maintenance tips or just any general tips I'd really appreciate it (I'M NOT DEMANDING IT)! I DO realize I can use "search" I'm just saying if you're looking at this thread thinking "pretty cool" and feeling in a giving-information-al mood then I'd appreciate any tips! This thread is just for people's enjoyment.

Thanks to rtyrty100, Daguin, and IgorT!!

The best tip I can give is to send me your laser immediately. And I'm afraid I AM demanding it!!!!:D

Nice bit of kit! Enjoy.

That's a nice build you made. I like to see people building there own lasers rather than being an appliance opperator.

Good work.

I didn't build this one myself :undecided: it was built originally by Igor and upgraded by Daguin. I purchased it slightly used (~1 hr) from rtyrty100. I definitely don't trust myself building a powerhouse like this yet.. I just wanted a first blu-ray to have!

But my next laser will definitely be one I build myself.. I'll start out with a lower power probably.. don't want to throw away all that money if I screw up!

Treat that 25mw through the glasses as 100mw. The sunglasses may be cutting down on BR power, but they are also causing your pupils to dilate. The hole in your eye for light to enter becomes bigger, increasing the risk for that 25mw to enter. Just as a precaution, in case you didn't already know. Cool? Cool!

Have fun!

Oh dont worry I'm treating it still like it's the full 550mW! Always better safe than sorry :) Thanks though!

sweet find swim!!:D if you have glasses for your green, they might also protect from blu-ray(depends on the glasses) my 532nm glasses are OD 4 for both 532nm and 405nm, and when your ready for your first build, check out jayrob's pocket mini kit, i just put one together today and i gotta say, its one sweet host, i will be buying a few more, just thought id pass it along!

Very nice!
I'm looking forward to finishing my 12X build.
550mW is some awesome burning power.

you got me interested now, shame too i was doing so good, ah well time to start saving for a 12X drive:D

550mW... very schweet. I wondering if you have a exotic lens in there, or just a hot diode?

Also, if I may ask what meter is that? I can't make it out in the pic. Please and thank you.

*edit* never mind on the meter I see it in your sig:)

^ thanks I'm up on the current #'s for the 12x... thanks go out to those who have made that possible. It's just that without seeing your mA setting I was
<shamed to say> "assuming" yours either had the exotic lens of sorts or was really an efficient diode. :)

*edit* Ok I read the chart you have the lens in question, and have an efficient diode as well.

enjoy!!!!!!!!!:)
