RHD's black Sabertwins 2.7Wpk - 2.4W av 455nm build that I have in my ever growing collection. I use it for very special occasions only. It uses one of the new M series diodes. This is the most likely the most powerful single diode blue (445-460nm) handheld laser on the forum by far. Yes the wavelength does shift a little on these diodes as they warm up.

Most powerful ive seen with my own eyes was 40W of 10600nm/IR which is really not SEEING but you get the idea.

Ive also seen 1.5W of 532nm/green. What a sight :cool:

Yes, I really like the size of that heatsink for your diode! that's going to be pretty stable for output. lots of dissipation of heat there!

I have a 4W 960nm c-mount based handheld IR burner that I made a few years back. I also have a 3W 808nm handheld burner, but I am changing the driver in it. Both of these run on 25500 (c size) lithium cells.

Brazil. And I don't think it's a good idea to have more people with lasers here, at least not until they get more civilized.

Were they portable?

1.5W of green, holy crap! Can you see the beam during the day?

At that power you should be able to see the dot of the 960nm, right?

Not portable in the sense handheld. However it wouldnt be TOO difficult to make either one portable in the sense (back packin it)

As for the green laser the beam was about 2x brighter than a 445 in the day.

My Starwarz carbine was seen once by Meatball when he came through here.
It's hard to measure but it is somewhere between 12 and 15 Watts of CO2 RF
excited. It draws 12 AMPS from those cells @ 32 volts!

Most Power ive seen in person is a 60 watt co2 laser and the most i have seen from a pointer would be 5mw green :P .
 
The most powerfull i have seen lol - argon ion laser max 12 watt

Atomicrox - At 4W power, the goggles are on before I pick the laser up. The dot, at 960nm, would not be seen by eye anyway. Even 808nm is a very deep dull red to the eye. You do see, even through goggles, the glow off the wood or whatever the beam is burning. My vidcam can "see" the 960nm quite well, it shows up as gray. This helps with focus.
 
Yeah, at 4W it's way too dangerous to even look at the dot from far away. And being invisible you wouldn't even know what hit you. Better to use the camera :)

I can see relatively low powers of 808nm but never tried 960.. Are you sure it'd be completely invisible?
 
^yup, my night vision illuminator runs at 980nm and i cant see it at all
