Test load should show what current is being put into the laser right? On all my jibdrives I have had, and I've built 3 or 4 guidesmans with them, with the driver unsinked, I have always gotten 1.1-1.3W
Was just wondering why I was getting 1.7W, when the driver can't be doing more than 1.3A according to jib, unless it is heatsinked
Try putting your DMM set to Amps in series with batteries..
I believe Jib's drivers are linear Drivers and not Boost..
That test will give you a very close current draw at the LD..
No, it was the diode, and I blew that one to smithereens. I think the driver when I had it heatsinked touch the host and blew up, both driver and diode were lost that day.
This is a brand new diode I got from jordan in the mail today, and another jib 1.3A driver
I just checked the current draw, 1.42A, no driver heatsinking, and a 405/445 glass lens. I would like to run this baby at 1.8A, but I'm very satisfied with what it's making at 1.4A.
I was planning on selling this, now I think I'll wait and swap out the diode when I get another!
