I haven't read every post so forgive me if this was already posted but, you guys need to go to youtube and check out some videos of jason krause. He does things that are hard to believe even though you are watching it be done!

Nearly everyone on here says to start with the S107, but it might a nice 1st heli. I started with the EL-CheapO air hogs, so I imagine it's beter then what I had.

Just ordered a Syma S107 from ThinkRC and used the code march5 to get an additional 5% discount. Also added spare rotor blades, tail rotor blade, battery, and a balance bar. Looking forward to my first heli.

The S107 was one of my 1st Helis to learn some basic control
functions... I still have it... and still flies stable...
Since then I got a Lama 400d to learn 4 Channel controls... and now
I also have a V120D01 and a V200D01...
I'm not as good as some of you guys... but I can take off and hover
coming and going...
Next.... Figure eights....

...would you buy this as a first RC heli or stick with the S107?
That depends on how much time you have to dedicate to this hobby. Location too, is crticial.

It wasn't my plan to take up R/C Heli as an outdoor hobby; I just wanted something that was a bit more challanging than a std $30 3ch Heli. Now I have 4ch/6ch helis which need to be trained on outdoors, where you have room for error. As such small Helis don't fare well with wind, it has to be a relatively mild day...

Having said that, 4ch Helis are much more exciting to fly. 3ch are fun for the first few sessions but they get boring fast (imo). So if you want to make like a couch potato while flying a Heli around your living room, go with a 3ch. If you think you would like to someday fly high-speed / 3D / inverted, get the 4ch but be ready to look for ample space to train...

FedEx delivered my (genuine, not fake or clone) Syma S107 from thinkrc.com yesterday. They sent emails confirming the order and tracking information. It was very painless process. After unpacking, I charged it per instructions. First flight time was about 5 minutes. Second charge only lasted about 2 minutes. Will try a few more charge/discharge cycles before testing the spare battery.

I was able to trim, hover, rotate, fly forward and backward, and land (not pretty but survivable ). Forward level flight and landing will take some practice. Overall, I'm fairly satisfied with this heli and my flight skills after only a few minutes of flight time.

ped I got the S032 today, and it's a stable flyer for the most part. Damn hard to keep the Dog from catching and eating it. I've had the antenna wire get caught in the main rotor a few times, and that's annoying. It absorbs crashes very well without any damage. Very Happy with this Heli, and I recommend it.

For people not having the S107 yet, go to Focalprice and enter LS011704 to get 16% off. Final price is $24.99 then.

I'm having a ball with my new S107. I took my heli to work today and showed it off to several co-workers. One guy is ordering three tonight and two or three others may be ordering one each. They can't believe how well it flies and how cool it is for under $30.

Hmmm, should I get another S107, an S032, or maybe a beginner 4 channel? I'm thinking a larger 2.4GHz model that can also be flown outdoors. Recommendations?
