I myself have some kind of genetic mutation preventing me from being greedy and taking advantage of people, and just like you, I manged it without needing to read it in a... well you know

Ouch… Yeah I did the same thing last week, I put 2-18350 batteries in my 405nm host and blew the diode just like that, saw a QuickFlash of it. So I contacted DTR got a new one

that sucks man, on the bright side you wont do that again. im nervous to burn my diodes out as well. i think even the most experienced builders are. they need to make resilient diodes :D

Brian I am sorry you had this happen to you. S#!T happens and there is nothing we can do about it. When this type of things happen to me I just want to throw whatever I am doing out the window, just because I can't throw myself out because it would hurt.
Next time it won't happen anymore that is for sure....

Thanks to Norbix and all else...I appreciate the support. You guys understand how this feels...the g/f and my daughter are just wondering what the hell I am so upset about.

Also, the laser looks awesome! Too bad about the diode. Shit happens, man. :(
Just gotta do it right and be careful every time. Confidence and excitement can end a diode's life if you don't double check your work!

I stop and test at EVERY step along the way

That is the only way that I can think of to "know" where the problem happened
