It is Here.!!!!! 300mW "635nm" Mitsubishi.....

What's the little dot to the left of the main spot when you shine it at the door?

Its not Really a dot More of a Splash/bright spot that looks like a dot on Camera.

I dont know what it is but it is always there. Even Changing lenses out its there.

Not sure. Ill try to get better close up tonights of the Dot area. But its Pretty bright So ill see what i can do...
 





At 350mA I was getting ~>210mW
So I Turned the Current Up to 400mA and I was Getting 255mW
Then Maxed it at 420mA and you see in the video what its reading 285mW.

So I think that this is Good because its still within the DataSheet. Plus The DataSheet is done before optics so after Optics i think we are right on.:)

What lens did you use?
 
These are good times.

Thanks Angelos, and DTR for helping the community. Almost live test results, and a source all in the same day. It doesnt get any better than this. :beer:
 
Damn. That looks nice. I was eyeing these over on rayfoss and was hoping someone took the plunge and would get one. What are you driving it with a flexdrive? Did you notice if the color shifted as you upped the power? The data sheet shows that at 400ma it'd be closer to 644. Maybe I'll buy one of these from DTR and punt those PITA 20mw diodes that have been annoying the crap out of me as of late. :p
 
This makes me wish I got diodes stronger than 10mW.

Maybe if I knife-edge all 10 together. :thinking:

I can Assure you that this is still ~635nm.

In Fact this diode is more "orange" in color then my sanyo's 50mW and my 20mW.

After seeing this I can say that my other Lower Power ^^^ 635nm lasers are closer to 644nm then this if that or this diode is Just Lower in WL.

But of course this is only by eye.

Hopefully someone will test one of these diodes on a spectrometer and See where its at for sure, but i know what i see and i do see it more Orange then my other 635nm laser.

Could Also be becuase its brighter. But even when it was at Lower Power when i first turned it on this was more orange in color.

Maybe ill send one of these out to Cyparagon for testing like i did in the Fake 638nm thread for testing when i get the second one in.:)

Excellent news on the wavelength. I swear as I pushed one of my 635s towards its rated mac I saw a pretty noticeable shift. It didn't look as red as my LPC-815 but it didn't seem as 635ish as it was before. Might have been my mind playing tricks on me too.
 
^^^ Dont Hold me too it though. Eyes Are not a Good way of testing. But IMO In this case Ive seen enough "635nm" to know what it looks like and I did not notice any shift.

We will see soon enough when someone tests it before i can send mine out to someone.:)

You should be able to shine both through a diffraction grating to see if they are at least close. You might even be able to see the red shift if you up the current while watching through the grating...

I have a 500 line diffraction Grating.

I will look into this.:)
 
Keep the distance between the grating and wall the same, shine the laser through it and measure the distance between two dots. Do the same for the other laser and you may be able to see a measurable difference in the two. The greater the distance between the grating and wall the easier it will be to measure a difference. You would probably want to pick the slow axis of the new diode and measure with it perfectly vertical, to stay consistant. (If that makes any sense!)

I think RHD has a thread on the subject somewhere as well as a formula to roughly calculate wavelength.
