If You've Actually Received Your Spyder III Arctic - Post Here

it resembles - yes... but not quite..the rubber band (washer) is also missing...
i don't think WL would be using Aixiz thou.... just doesn't fit very well... and besides - why would they bother doing these slices to the sides? not only that, but we've seen wicked drilling holes before - i don't think that they would have done it so nicely - it seems like they handled/received these lenses already manufactured like that... therefore - they might not be THAT specific aixiz above here..... but it really looks like it!

It only had the epoxy on the retaining ring not on the whole deal. I gonna try a different solution. I will post what I did if it works as expected.

Coherent:

An easy solution to your problem will be plumbers tape we use it all the time around the threads of our lenses .:) If you use epoxy You risk getting some on the diode if you try some epoxy or something of that nature.

Through my glasses, on my budweiser dart board the spot appears white on the white parts, violet on blue parts and pink on red parts. Glancing around the glasses at surrounding objects in my peripheral I can tell my entire room is lit up very blue. Outside without glasses pointing a good distance away i can clearly tell it is blue. Maybe your eyes are broken?

Another look tonight, it does look a nice deep blue, but pointing it to the sky almost looks purple, my wife thought it looked purple.

Mines also around 1.36 mRad :) Nice!

Mine Must have been one of the 1st, because They didn't get mine right. My mRad wasn't bad all the time depending on the orientation of the Laser it could be under the 1.5 claimed in the specs. When the orientation is in the worse positions mRad would be more like Ummm gigantic over 10mRad at least.

No Even my wife thought it looked more purple then blue. Through the glasses it looks blue, but withou put I swear it looks more of a blue/purple colour.
Don't know what to tell you other than in my opinion it appears blue to my unaided eye outdoors.

Lit a match from 4 feet away outside tonight, took the glasses off and stared at the bright beam in the sky. I knew we had a decent flow of air traffic over Memphis but never realized how many planes fly at such different angles over my house. I will likely keep this one pointed below the fence line when I'm outside.

Plan to try out some different lenses and mirrors I've found, already focused the beam down and cut a match length-ways. It burns through white paper instantly so I'm considering the basic S3 lens kit for the focusing lens down the road. There's no way I'd order anything else from WL until they get caught up with the Arctic orders.

Mine seems ok, a nice retangle, burns well even from a good distant. I know on here, with an Arctic review someone said their host did not get warm, mine gets warm. Also The battery indicator, even though all three light up, does not indicate battery condition. When my battery went flat, one minute the 3 battery lights where on then the next battery went flat.

Did not use the battery that came with my Arctic, have a some panasonic 18650 batteries here, been charged for awhile, so battery may have not been fully charged. But overall pleased with mine, no dents, scratches, or scuff marks others have reported.

Seems when the battery goes flat, the retange becomes a line, now using the battery that the Arctic comes with, so fully charged, and beam once again a nice retangle

I received mine last Friday, got a chance to play with it when I got back home on Monday. Mine has the same new lens style. Just for giggles I put it in backwards and it makes the beam focus closer to the body, the beam looks more like a dot at a distance but the dot looks like it is wearing a bowtie. I have included a picture of the the dot with the inverted lens. Up close like this it has a nice tight beam and burns just about everything I placed in front of it very quickly. The beam is not good at a distance though.

The focus adjustment is very sensitive, less than 1/8 turn from too far to too close. I set mine to the sharpest line at 20 ft. You can get nearly a circle at that distance, but it seems dimmer. I put a small drop of gel super glue on it to lock it in. I like the idea of plumbers tape though.

The line looks a little purple to me, particularly on a fully charged battery. As it
get lower, it gets bluer.

I only got about 30 minutes out of the stock battery. Visibly started to dim, voltage was 2.52.

The casing warmed up to 105 degrees at the front and 103 degrees at the switch end.

oh no!

super glue will fume the lens, or the diode window, depending on where you put it.

p-tape next time!

Good to know! I just put one drop on the edge of the lens housing so it would be easy to scrape off later, seems OK. :thanks:

as it may, i do believe that a wrecked lens outputting a useless beam/dot is worse than a hot one :)

no prob bruv.

Argon-ion manufactures call 458nm 'violet' so it doesn't surprise me that a lot of people say 445 looks purple. I imagine the dot appearing blue is similar to why the 405 dot looks blue on a lot of surfaces.. It's making what it strikes fluoresce.

And as far as air traffic.. You do live in Memphis heh. You have a major international airport.. the main Fed Ex hub...the naval air station out in Arlington.. and numerous small airports scattered around. Yeah there is going to be loads of planes in the sky at all hours.

I did fine some photos that look exactly the same as my Arctic does at 20 feet. These photos are accually from a member here who has a Dragon Spartan 1 watt laser, and his beam is exactly like my Arctic at just over 21 feet.
