If You've Actually Received Your Spyder III Arctic - Post Here

Hello, I ordered mine the 22nd of July, two days before the price increase. The money was withdrawn about 5 days later. Haven't heard a word until today 8/14. I guess they are shipping the G2s. I told them that I wanted the G2, so this is what I got in email this morning:

I am pleased to announce that G2 Arctic lasers have commenced
shipment. Customers will begin receiving their G2 Arctic lasers in
the order they have ordered it. I again apologize to customers for
the delays. We've learned a lot of lessons on how to expand
manufacturing and we promise we won't disappoint in the future.

I would like to make this up to our customers by continuing to
utilize laser technology to achieve revolutionary products.
If you've known us before you've seen how much we've already
changed the laser world and we are just getting started.
I appreciate all the customers who have patiently waited for their
orders and look forward to serving you again soon.
Best,
Steve Liu

lol. Pointers are revolutionary products? Or does he mean we'll see WL develop and market a laser driven time machine or teleporter in the near future. heh.

Gotta love chinese marketing.

Re: Wicked Lasers Arctic G1 Review (many pics & dot mesurements)

Almost forgot... EPIC BEAMSHOT. Eat your heart out George Lucas.
Shot at wooden fence 50ft away. No fog, no overexposure, no flash.

Somebody should take a video of the Arctic burning through a Darth Vader figurine. That would be funny as all hell:eg:
Oh..and send it to George Lucas!

Hey, I put the Arctic head-to-head with a Spartan (1 watt blue hand-held laser from Dragon Lasers):

No, sorry, I don't own an LPM. I'm limited to a primitive "burn-through" contest.

I am so glad I cancelled, thanks for the test that yet again confirms what a pile of crap the Arctic is. I still can't beleive the hype that was generated by this laser, I was consumed by it along with so many others and the end result is something you could build much better for far cheaper. I hate Wicked Lasers, they will never see another dime from or anyone that I can get to first! :gun:

No problem. Glad I could help spare some angst. The Arctic certainly looks cool, but Wicked's handling of the Arctic sales is shameful. No responses to emails, shoddy order confirmation, the balls to list it as "in stock" on their website, and promoting contests for the Arctic. Simply unbelievable. I have no reason to offer as to why I got mine. I didn't order early. I only sent three follow-up emails. How I ended up getting it while others that are still waiting (much longer than I did) is beyond me. Purely random. Contrast that with ordering a Spartan from Dragon Lasers. I got the order confirm, shipping confirm with tracking, and it took about two weeks to arrive at my door in the USA from China.

That's a nice video. I got 8 seconds for the Spartan to burn through.

We don't know what battery or lens was in the Arctic.
If you put a good battery in, take the glass out of the training lens, and make sure you are properly focused, the Arctic is much stronger than your video.

Here's a video of mine. Since CD stack bases are the standard, I used two different ones. The first one was one I burned a lot of holes through. Took about 2 seconds. The second burn was on a different base, more gray than
black. The second burn took about 4 sec. I wiggled a little during the burn.
The 3rd burn was also 2 seconds. So much for a pile of crap.

Lets see you do that with the Spartan. Oh, by the way, I have left my Arctic run for over 45 minutes twice. Still had 3.82 volts in the battery last time. What's the longest run time on the Spartan?

I'm not trying to defend WL. The customer service sucks.

Don't know how you get 45mins on an Arctic battery. I have 4 18650 batteries and none last over 20 mins on full charge. I know the Spartan is the far better burner, as for the Arctic mine broke down in 4 days, and now only a faint dot.

There are heaps of Arctics breaking down, there QC is crap, they need to take lessions from Dragon Lasers. The Spartan is superior in every way other then the host.

I can also confrim the Spartan is the far better burner, and so it should, it has been metered at something like 1120mw peek and with Tenergy 750mAh 3.2 CR recharables the Spartan runs at 1030mw on average. A far cry from the Arctics mere 860mw tops.

Dude, take a pill. Why are you taking the simple test I made so personally? What are you, 6? I simply put the two side by side and shot a target. Why should I have to do the tweaking you did? What if I tweaked both lasers? The test was made without mods to either laser. Sorry the test didn't turn out the way you wanted it to but I didn't make the lasers, so what do you want me to do about it? As for the rest of your points and the tone of their delivery, really, grow up. I don't care which one wins.

Put a protective lens (not the trainer that the Arctic also comes with) in front of the Spartan and see what you meter. The arctic metered a small bit higher, than the stated Spartan numbers, without protective lens (same configuration the Spartan comes stock) and on the cheap stock batteries.

Customer service issues aside, there's no reason to attempt a "mine is bigger than yours" debate. Buy what you like and be happy.

That being said, my Arctic blast holes thru the black plastic in seconds, much faster than the side by side comparison vid, something was amiss there.

Talk about taking a pill! I was not attacking you, why the name calling?

What I am getting frustrated with is these "Arctics are crap" comments, particularly when posted after watching your video. Obviously, your vid was lacking basic info. I didn't think it was a fair comparison and I wanted to demonstrate the difference between the Arctic you have and mine.

I'm sure the Spartan is a fine machine, if you like it, fine. If you tweak it to get under 2 sec, please post another video.

I'm sorry your Arctic died, I'd be unhappy too. That's why I'm running mine hard and long, before the warranty runs out (insert wisecrack about WL warranty here). I believe they will eventually cover the defective ones, if their history is a guide.

I got 30 minutes (barely) out of the OEM battery, and over 45 twice out of a Tenergy protected 2600 (with plenty left to go). You don't have to believe me. I'm curious as whether the Spartan will stay cool enough that long.

As a burner the Spartan may be a better built unit, time will tell, but not because it's faster or more powerful.

Why are you getting frustrated with other people's comments? Unless you have some vested interest in Wicked, why bother getting frustrated? That's what came across in your post. Quote "Let's see you do that with your Spartan". What's your motivation for defending the Arctic so strongly? I have no axe to grind with either product. All I did was a simple comparison. As far as my video lacking basic info and not being fair, how much more fair can you get than taking two box stock products and comparing them side-by-side? What basic info was I "obviously" missing for such a test? If there are differences between your Arctic and mine, I'd have to say that speaks to the quality control of the Arctic, not my testing methods. How about you get a Spartan and do your own comparisons, then share with us?
