The word solder comes from the Middle English word soudur... Hmm, where is the bloody L there, mate?

It's pronounced "sodder" here in Arizona and everywhere else I've lived.

from Old French soudure, soldure, from souder, to soulder; to solder, from Latin solidre, to make solid, from solidus, solid; see solid

The L comes from the Latin...

so i pronounce it "sol-dur" spelled solder. I have never heard anybody referre to it as anything else...

saw-der California
Thats how I always heard it pronounced.
How ever, after reading what dusty posted. The pronouncing of the 'L' does make sense.

"saw-durr" - northern califronia.

I think norcal, oregon and washington are like the coolest states (and semistate) ever. If you wanna live on the best coast, you better try and move to the west coast.
