Sol-dur for me, it annoys me when you guys across the pond say sodder >:(

Joking, I don't mind, different people do and say things differently, fair enough :)

"sodder"

People tend to look at me funny when I say "sol-dur," with that face that says "he's trying, but he's still dummer'n a bag of hair, bless him."

Florida 8-)

Sol-dur
In Europe this is the correct way. Just like we include the u in colour, honour and so on. Also, here it is not modernize, specialize, brutalize but modernise, specialise and brutalise. We alse write dates DD/MM/YY.. and that makes the most sense to me. Small/medium/big rather than the American medium/small/big.

And for Jerry:
You can check the meaning of the phonetics here http://www.dictionary.cambridge.org/help/phonetics.asp and also use the home page for a great online dictionary.

I use the queens English, I hear "sodder" on programs like mythbusters and it grates with me.... you would not call a folder a foder would you.....:)

Lets open this out slightly, what is silver solder?

sol-dur or sol-der

Maybe it is correct to say sodder, but in Britain saying sodder sounds a bit weird when there's the "l" there, as it doesn't seem like the kind of word to have a silent l so I just kept with solder :)
