I skimmed through the thread.
One question.
He's not 18.
Why is he still here and why is this a debate?
Seems pretty clear cut.

Why is he still here? There is no need for this debate.

I understand not trusting his statements or ability to safely operate a laser, but I don't understand why people need to attack an 11 year old for acting like an 11 year old.Everyone getting annoyed at people jumping on this kid need to go back and read the first few pages of the thread again, thoroughly.
1st, he made a thread with the title "Help!!!". If you have read the rules and stickies forum, you'll know not to do this. You do not need help, you are requesting help to buy a laser, so use that as your title.
2nd, his first post indicated he has not done ANY research at all, and just wants a high powered laser NOW.
3rd, his age. Enough said.
4th, Does not seem to understand the responsibility of owning a high powered laser, and doesn't seem to care either.
@Danefex
I agree completely with everything you have said. I did give him a negative reputation point, but it was done to put a red square next to his name so that members had a clear indication that they should not blindly sell a laser to him. If his father wishes to come to the forum and purchase a laser, he can create an account with a clean slate and inform himself of what kind of responsibility he is giving his son. Some kids learn to shoot a gun when they are younger than 11. I believe that, if the guardian of a child is well versed in safety, judges that the child is capable of following the correct procedures and observes the child while he is operating it, there is no problem in buying him a laser.
I do not understand why some people have chosen to call him a "moron", "idiot" or "douche" in the tags. The issue is his age. Perhaps that makes him an "idiot" compared to an adult but what you guys are doing is the equivalent of ridiculing a baby for being unable to speak. He seems more polite and better at expressing himself than most 11 years olds.

s? Shows that he at least wants to learn instead of just ninja'ing a laser with no knowledge.
So you are basically saying that you don't give a damn if an 11 year old blinds himself or someone else because worse stuff happens in the World? What a sad, sad opinion.Genocide is happening around the world and you're getting all up in arms over 1 kid with a laser? What's the worst that happens? He blinds himself or someone else and he gets his ass whooped or arrested, laser is gone. Who cares? Does it effect you?
Why hold back? Because your words are wasted and you all just look like torch burners. DJNY had the right idea. Answer his questions and educate the kid with respect and maybe he'll have respect for the situation. So you are basically saying that you don't give a damn if an 11 year old blinds himself or someone else because worse stuff happens in the World? One of the main points of this forum is to spread information about laser safety to the public. If we can try to help prevent someone from getting hurt, why hold back just because he might not listen and may get a laser from somewhere else anyway?
Umm... This kid never wanted to learn a single thing. He wanted to form over cash for a high powered laser never to return again so he can go "burn the ass hairs off his cat at 10ft" LOL
$265 is much too high for a 1W laser. Also, did any of you have dispensable $260 at age 11?
Troll for bust on LPf builder perhaps? :tinfoil:

Netherlands Laser Law:
Before 1998 Class 3A lasers were allowed. In 1998 it became illegal to trade Class 2 laser pointers that are "gadgets" (e.g. ball pens, key chains, business gifts, devices that will end up in children's possession, etc.). It is still allowed to trade Class 2 (< 1 mW) laser pointers proper, but they have to meet requirements regarding warnings and instructions for safe use in the manual. Trading of Class 3 and higher laser pointers is not allowed.
Not a very good troll. If I were trolling I would at least try to assure the seller that I was a responsible 16-17 year old, or something along those lines.
