GB #2: LaserMan (Dinodirect) FireDragon 250, 300, 500mW GroupBuy - CLOSED

Still haggling with Lasersman...they claim their policy is that regardless of the issue you have with the laser...be it broken, the wrong model, or under spec, any of which os their fault...the purchaser is responsible for the return shipping fees.

If you read their policy statements the guarantee a FULL REFUND! What is a full refund if I have to spend an extra $40-50 bucks returning the laser?

Beware, these guys are shady liars...typical Chinese practice really. I should have known better than to try to trust a country who's polocy in general os to steal, cheat, and lie...look at their track record with intellectual theft....they are the leaders in the world and do it shamelessly.

I have learned a lesson...I hope people reading this will learn this lesson at my expense and NEVER DO BUSINESS with Dino Direct or Lasersman again (or for the first time for that matter).

Anyways, it still appears my credit card company is on my side...the refund hit my account on Friday as they said. now Lasersman must prove they are following their policy in regards to my situation. I have spoken with them again to clarify the websites wording of a full refund....it appears that would include any expenses incurred by me imcluding shipping. To date they have not provided an RMA number or return address despite my multiple attempts to get one from them.

I really hope now that they have shown their true colors everything works out to where I keep my refund and they don't agree to pay for return shipping...I will get the best deal ever, a free laser....albeit a real piece of crap free laser...it appears that will be up to them.

now make them wait 30 days while you take your sweet time "packaging" it and "processing the refund" XD

That starts from the time they actually provide me with an RMA number and return shipping address! I have emailed them over six times I can count requesting both...the last email I received in response to that request was "in regards to what you said, just ship it back and pay the shipping and we will take care of it for you" nuts huh! First and probably the last time I actually laughed about this whole thing....

You know what the return process is like with Lasersman? Its like a legal negotiation. Its not about actual customer service and following your own company policies. Its presenting walls and being an obstacle course that the customer has to work through with the hope that its going to work out. the hope.

I am still emailing these people. Its an ongoing barrage of untrustworthy negotiation.

After about a dozen emails requesting an RMA number and a return address I finally received a return address with instructions on how to return the laser.

In addition to the address they have given me instructions to declare the value of the parcel to be $10. So now they want me to break a federal law and lie on a customs declaration form.

I updated my Credit Card company about this...they advised not to break any laws..imagine that...

My credit card company has already refunded me the money and charged laserman back for the laser so...unless they pay for shipping and agree to allow me to apply the correct value to the parcel they will need to send a representative to my house to retrieve their green light. I have decided not to call it a laser anymore....it brings shame to the hobby....

I wonder how much they have to pay the customs there if they correct value is applied to the customs form...anybody know the answer to this? 10-20% if so they will have to pay $35-70 to get it out of customs...

Im in a similar boat except i am behind in the process because i had to deal with and go around a complete dolt of a customer service supervisor. i still am not able to get an address and RMA number and i am not going to fight them for it. i have asked twice and not gotten the info. so i am about to open the dispute with the CC company.

Lasersman sucks. you might get a great laser from them but you might not and if you don't its a complete hassle to deal with them. its not worth it frankly.

Just a heads-up for everyone. I purchased a small $30 LaserMan pointer in mid November.

Today I got called by my bank about two unknown charges - rather small ones, but they were for charges that clearly weren't mine. They cancelled my card for me, and are sending me a new one.

The reason this is a bit suspect, is that the particular card is one that I don't really use (that's why I used it for this purchase). In fact, when they went over my charges for the last month, the ONLY charges (apart from the two that were not mine) were a recurring hosting payment to GoDaddy (legitimately mine) and the LasersMan purchase (also legitimately mine).

Now, it's quite possible that the card was compromised somewhere else a while back, and just didn't get fraudulently used until now. However, it's a chip-card, so it's unlikely that it got compromised in person, plus, I rarely ever use it in person, and I still have it physically (didn't loose it). So really, there weren't a lot of vectors for possible compromise here, and I have to say, I'm probably not going to use any card directly with LM in the future. This isn't definitive, but it has my guard up high.

EDIT: UPDATE
I just looked back over all of my charges since August, and the only things on this card are:
1) Recurring GoDaddy payments
2) A dental appointment
3) Google payments for Android apps
4) A payment to LaserGlow
5) The LasersMan purchase

I don't think banks have access to itemized lists of purchases, only the full amount and the company who charged it.

The company was enough for me to identify that they were not my charges. Hotel / travel locations that sounded like they were in France.

This thread keeps getting worse and worse. :( I really hope that this doesn't turn out to be from Laserman.

I always get annoyed when my bank calls because they can't seem to understand that internet payments can and frequently do go to out of state. At least I think that is what triggers the alert to them.

However this thread reminds me that it really is for my own protection.

sad when I read rhd's post, all of us hate such a abominable action. I would like to advise you try to contact with our service dept to see if they can help. I should say that there would no blame to us, since we have no access to your card information, all you card information only known by the credit card company. I feel sorry for your distrust.

Well - there's no way to know what actually happened, so I won't draw any conclusions.

But I'm done with this notion of giving my credit card directly to a website. Find a way to make Paypal work, or go with Google checkout - but I'm not willing to use my credit card directly with *any* website anymore.

RHD...did they itemize the two unknown charges? or were they not included on the account since they were suspect by the card company? can you inquire as to who charged the account....this would be very interesting info.

I am beginning to have a large degree of distrust in vendors who don't use PayPal for web based purchases...PayPal has the greatest degree of protection for the consumer that I understand vendors will literally go broke for doing crappy business and using PayPal due to the charge backs they get. Having PayPal as an option for payment virtually assures you a good outcome should the vendor not live up to their part of the agreement.

I recall somewhere in the GB thread there was initially the ability to use PayPal but then that was pulled....the excuse was that Laserman received word from PayPal they would not service their business because "lasers are dangerous"....how is it then the other vendors selling lasers have PayPal as a payment option? Were they implying Laserman's lasers were dangerous? or is there more to the story here?

Hi guys! The PayPal informed us yesterday that the laser pointers are dangerous and they won't support the laser pointers sales now. Sorry about that. So we can only support credit card payment. I am sorry about that information.:yabbem::yabbem:

oh yes, here it is.....
