FS: 8x BDR-S03 Sleds $103.50

so being since it's bdr-s03, if this the same sled used in the pioneer 8x drives?

It is NOT the same sled as the one out of my Pioneer BDR-203BK.

Also the diode is probably not the same one. The diode in my BK had a small square bar code on the back and nothing on the can. This one has nothing on the back and an alpha/numeric code burned into the side of the can.

This is one of the reasons we need a few more people to test one. Sometimes (especially at the beginning and ending of a manufacturing run) parts are "swapped" out. Remember the PHR-803T vs, DT-0811 challenge. We are getting a pretty good picture of the diode in the BDR-203BK, but this one is new. One test is not enough to know the validity of that test nor the consistency of the diodes used in the sleds.

No I don't believe so. At least not the one Dave bought a while ago, that one was a BDR-203BK sled.

The S and 2 are different. There are 3 variations of these BDR's that I know of. BDR-S03, BDR-203, and BDR-203BK. Not sure of the differences or the diodes being the same or not.

BTW... how many of these 8X?? LDs do you have...:undecided:

This is already public info on my site so I'll just tell ya, I have about 36 sleds left so far. I know someone was asking me about buying 10-20 sleds though so my stock could drop quickly.

No, do you have problems receiving items that way or something? I can ship anywhere that has an address. USPS is good like that :)

I've had some trouble in the past where the seller didn't want to ship to PO boxes so i thought i would check first. I should be ordering from you real soon! :D
 
What kind of voltages do you need to drive one of these with a FlexDrive? I know you mentioned that 12V is recommended for a rkcstr, but FlexDrive can't handle more than 5.5V. Would a standard 3.7V 14500 suffice?

And is there any thoughts on the "optimal" current for these? Seems like they can handle like 350mA no problem.

The Flexdrive won't be able to power one of these, at least not at the high powers. I heard DrLava is making another design to power 8x and 12x burners with higher voltages / currents, this is just a guess though.

No, a 3.7V would not suffice.

Optimal current is not really known yet. I'd go with 300mA to be safe though.

I see. Well, that works out better, then, because the rkcstr's cheaper. Hehe....

Actually yes, a 3.6 (4.2 at full charge) rechargeable battery with a FlexDrive is fine with an 8X up to about 6 volts per Dr. Lava.

With the BDR-203 diodes, they hit 6 volts at around 300mA's. If these new diodes stay below 6 volts, a FlexDrive can go higher.

Sportcoupe is using 360mA's with a CR123/FlexDrive/BDR-203 and the driver is holding!

The diode from the "BK" sled needed 6.2V at 350mA. The flexdrive could not deliver THAT voltage at that current.

However, the diode from this "S" sled only needs 5.7V at 350mA.

The "BK" diode only needed 6V at 300mA. Drlava said that the flexdrive WOULD handle 6V at 300 mA.

It is possible then, that the flexdrive will handle 5.7V at 350mA. Which is what this one needs. Someone should ask Drlava about it. I am leaving so will not get to check posting regularly enough for me to do it.
