Hey Guys,

Was testing a bunch of my BDR-S06J Diodes just to see if they work and found this Guy.:drool:





When i first tested the diode it was at 500mA and it was doing "786mW" with a 405-G-1 Lens.

Normal at 500mA they do ~700mW.

So I turned up the currant to 610mA and Fired it Up and was Blown away How bright this laser is now.

940mW 0f 405nm is AWESOME.:drool:

I dont Recommend running the BDR-S06J More then 500mA but i have quit a few Here so i dont care if i kill it.

600mA is the Very Max i would go for this diode so since it was a Freak a went a tab higher.

I was Hoping to hit 1W and Maybe i might turn up the currant Just a tab more to see what it will do but either way iam Very Happy with this right now.

I put it in a C6 host that i had laying around but i dint have a heatsink so i grabbed the one off my other 12x Survival laser SL-V to use to as a test pointer until i transplant this build into another host.

Total ON time is ~15 minutes.

I knew these can be pushed to high currents, but DAMN! This guy is badass

I personally would push it a bit more to get 1W Just so I could say "take a look at my 1watt." I bet 1watt of 405 burns like a mofo.

Although I never advocate pushing a diode to the limit 1001mW would be epic....

Modify the G-1 to have paper thin walls

Then you will have higher chances of 1W

Thanks Guys. I got a new peak of ~950mW after the laser was sitting for a wail.:wave:

Although 1W would be cool to hit, I would have to bump the currant up to ~650mA. Which is Pushing your Luck.

These Fail at ~700mA. If i had a slightly better diode that was Doing ~25mW to 1W at 610mA i would push it.

But as of now iam going to enjoy where its at. There will be no visual difference between 950mW & 1W other then bragging rights.

But knowing me ill probebly push it just to see what happens.:eg:

When i put it in my New Host I will probebly do it.

If it dies O well. Ive got 15 more. Not freaks But still.

I want it! I am planning on buying a few of these and doing some tests. May kill 3 just for some research.

TO Maybe save you some diodes, dont go past 650mA. If at 500mA its not doing over 750mW its not going to hit the 900mW or More.

I dont recommend more then 500mA with a G1 and 450mA - 460mA with an Aixiz Glass lens.

^But iam sure you already know those Numbers.

Awesome diode you have there Angelos :wave:

Would you say that it has also a higher wavelength? Once saw one with 412nm if I remember correctly.

Do you see a visible difference next to your 768mW SL-V and does your 940mW one burns better?

(from the viewpoint of a relative newbie); How often do "freak" diodes like this occur? Who manufactured it?

*IF* it were mine, I would NOT push it just to attempt to get it to 1W. I would keep it.
If it's an "unholy mutant" from a glitch in manufacturing, it might have an inherently shorter lifespan anyway.

Very cool indeed!
I love the 405 12x diodes. Even now with the 445's they still are my favorite diodes.
The beam specs of them are fantastic. It's by far the best laser for burning in distance or burning in general I owe.
Just a pitty that 12x still is the highest powered 405 diode.
But with some guys like you pushing it at almost 1W It's just Wow!
