^^^That was a super freak of a diode. How long did it actually live for?

I actually tortured the diode in a series of tests, power got bumped higher and higher after running it for a while (mins/hours) I don't remember how long on what powers for sure though. I do know after many many hours of torture at various powers and run times after finally bumping it to >360mW it lived 20-30mins on or thereabout.

And you're sure that it was a PHR, not just a mislabelled 6x or 12x?

lol, I am positive it was a PHR_803T. The sled was a PHR as was the diode haha

I really need to get a new 405, this is almost as over spec as my PHR 803T that was doing >360mW at fairly low currents. yep, thats near 400mW from a PHR and it lived for good while at that too!

Hope this guy Lives a Long life. Only time will tell.

So far there is ~30 minutes at 1W with no degrading.:wave:

Ive been Playing with it alot and iam glad i switch to the new Host. Not that the C6 was not doing a good job keeping git cool witch is was but i wanted this thing to stay as Cool as Possible.

What if the factory that stuck the "PHR" in the sled made a mistake and stuck a 6x or a 12x diode in it instead? I assume that whoever makes the PHR diodes also probably makes a lot of the other diodes.

I may be making heatsinks for a VERY similar host. It could very well be the same host with a different name. I would be selling the whole kit with the flashlight body for $30-35 shipped. If anyone is interested please pm me. I want to gauge weather its worth investing in the hosts.

That would be cool. I probably wouldn't buy one right now since I have one I bought from Moh months ago that I haven't used yet (remedying that soon!) but it'd be something I'd be interested in down the road. Maybe you could offer just the heatsinks and the buyer has to supply their own host?

I always assumed that people preferred the host heatsink combo but theres no reason I couldnt just make the sinks.

I was actually using this laser last night when we had kinda of a misty/foggy night and it was a very visible beam in this kind of weather condition.

405nm is very nice to look at outside and i wish we where able to make this WL even brighter with more power for a more visible beam. But this laser still satisfies me for now.:eg:

i wonder how long it will live. It seems that theres no degradation yet. How long have you used it?

Im afraid of buying another 405nm I bought 2 and both started to degrade after a few mins of use...
