"First Look" at The 500mW Mitsubishi ML501P73 635nm/638nm diode is in.!

I can't wait to get my grubby hands on one of these:D

Can you please post a longer test run? If these are as stable as say the m140's that would be amazing.

Sure!

Let me charge up a better cell - I was using a Trustfire, let me grab an AW IMR.

I'll shoot a video - maybe with a 2 minute run time?

2 minutes was exactly what I was thinking:wave: I mean there is absolutely no reason I would run a handled for longer then that.

On the chart it didn't really hit peak very fast, so I'm curious if there is a noticeable drop off, or they are stable for a while.

Thats with a G1 lens RHD right.? Sweet. So your getting more or less exactly what iam getting.:)

445nm has nothing on these diode in stability:

Can you test the WL at that currant. I wonder what its actually doing.

I'm quite happy right now :) Note that I'm using a G1 lens.

WOW That pretty damn good for that host size.

A 445nm in that host at 1W for a near 3 minute test will drop near double that.

Have you tested the WL.

No - my spectrometer isn't calibrated to do reds. I get a range of around 420 to 620.

To get larger coverage, I'd need to upgrade the diffraction grating inside, and that's like $90. Plus, I'd need (probably) a 671nm DPSS unit, or at least a HeNe, and preferably a 404nm DPSS too, to calibrate. (Or a gas discharge lamp)

my C2 host has been collecting dust waiting for this diode to come in :(

Very very cool results:D

That's one of my all time favorite hosts btw... I assume you're using a copper heatsink? Good to know that the host size is more than adequate:)

I never use copper. I can't. The colour clash with an aluminum host makes me want to hide the laser from sight.

I prefer copper for the added weight, and of course the added heatsinking:p

Ask lazeerer or FP to make you a custom focus adapter to hide the copper if it bothers you though.

The fact that the results are with an aluminum heatsink... even better:D

Gosh these would be perfect for us projector guys if we can tame that beam profile. Tame 2 and combine with a pbs, and run them at 800ma for a long life and you'll have over a watt of bright red, and it will be tonnes cheaper than a K-Vant. :P

You need SILVER then. Better thermal conductivity than copper and won't clash with your builds!
