(Correction - NOT DPSS) Red DPSS Module On E-bay

Re: Red DPSS Module On E-bay

Doesn't look like DPSS to me, especially at that price and wavelength. Most likely just a diode.

Re: Red DPSS Module On E-bay

<350mA

my guessing would be that its a red diode in a green type of housing , i also fail to see where he described red dpss:thinking:

Re: Red DPSS Module On E-bay

What kind of crystal chemistry would even produce red? I'm sure all sorts of gas and even dye lasers could, but I've never heard of red DPSS.

Does not mean it doesn't exist though. My knowledge is admittedly limited.

Never mind... apparently Nd:YLF, Nd:YAG, and Nd:YVO4 all can produce various reds. Trying to figure out what the pump frequencies are.

Yeah I don't know about red dpss either. I just assumed it was from looking at it.

Hmmm...

so far i have only seen 671nm as dpss module, not to sure about what wavelenghts and crystals used

i gotta learn more of this stuff!! google and search button here i come!! :o

Yeah ,

671 is the DPSS red its 808nm Pumps Nd:YVO4 Gives 1342nm is SHG By KTP to give the 671nm , The SHG crystal Is KTP I belive same as green 532nm .

Re: Red DPSS Module On E-bay

That would be the steal of the day if it were a dpss red, i would be nice to have a nice thin beam of red.

Re: Red DPSS Module On E-bay

But wait...as Xtrm2Rick pointed out, it is operating at less than 350mA. The green DPSS's(since the process is similar, I assume the outcome would be roughly similar) that we use need a pumped 808 diode many times as powerful as the resulting visible beam. At less than 350mA, with a result of 200mW, the laser would be operating VERY efficiently. This doesn't seem possible. :undecided:

Re: Red DPSS Module On E-bay

I posted a question to the seller from their page to ask if it is DPSS 671, or just a red diode pressed into the brass module...

I'll post back after they answer...

Re: Red DPSS Module On E-bay

I'm willing to bet my liver it's a diode laser. I have seen plenty of diodes in those modules. And if it were DPSS, it doesn't have to be 671nm. 640nm is more common.

Re: Red DPSS Module On E-bay

its just a standard 660nm diode, why would it be a 671 dpss?

he says its a 660nm laser

Re: Red DPSS Module On E-bay

I bet to Its a 660nm Diode , And if By a far charnce its 671 , 350ma Draw Is very low for 200mw , My 250 Draws 2.5 amps @ 5 v ,

Grix : , 640nm is a diode laser To Not dpss .
