Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

I'd be happy to keep the status updated. I'll do it right now! I'm definately interested...but am undecided as to what goggles to get.

You bought the Arctic? Then get the ARG sport style goggles to look like a cool monkey

:D I'm actually in the process of building one with a jayrob 18650 host.... but I'm learning towards the ARG's

btw... the OEM site is back up

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

Hello Everyone,

This is Tony from OEM Laser Systems, Inc.

I wanted to pop in and first say thank you for your confidence in our protective eye wear. We certainly hope we are taking care of your needs.

I also wanted to mention that we have had one of those nightmare scenarios over the past couple of days. The likelihood of two RAID drives dying at the same time on a web server is very remote but it is exactly what we experienced. I should have bought a lotto ticket. In any event, our site is up and running but we are not accepting online orders until the security certificate has been reinstalled. This should be completed tomorrow (18 JUN 10). We are still restoring database information at this time so online order status may not be entirely accurate. Please see your PDF invoice for shipping dates you received via email.

If you have questions feel free to give us a call. You can ask for me. Thanks again for your support and your patience during the last two days.

Best Regards,

Tony

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

It seemed really odd that the site was down, thanks for letting us know. Hope at least the recovery goes fairly smooth.

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

I might be interested in the AL3, or maybe the KRY. Don't know whether I would be able to scrounge up the cash in time though.

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

I guess I would be in for the AL3 or the ARG...

Not sure what would be better...

ARG is OD 7, which may be too much... I need to still see the dot on my 300mW 445.

AL3 is OD 5 which may be just about perfect.... I think ?

Either way, I would get frame style 34 "High Tech"

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

Sounds great! :D
What size order would you need for a price of <$68?
At NOIRlaser.com I see KRY & YLW listed for $130, ARG $100. Would the discount be based on the list price e.g. ARG cheaper then YLW?

Still going on, the details haven't been worked out yet but I've kept track of who has shown interest. 10 so far.

@extelon

Since this is a couple pages now I think we should have the status in the first post if your willing. I'm going to put a status message in my first post for the time being & will remove if you edit yours.
Or if you don't want to be bothered keeping your post updated perhaps toss in a link to my post?

So I think it will be a larger discount off the NOIR prices, since the OEM price is lower. My Bad... It's not $68, but 62.60, so let's say $63. I can sell the ARG's at $63, matching the other price essentially, and do it now at 10 pcs. So this is 37% off NOIR list price. Somecollect the $$ and send me the order. Details by PM OK.

I am also selling the CASIO projectors and diodes

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

Actually, I did not know OEM L.S. was a member (Tony). Maybe stay with that solution.

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

Looking for a Vet to take over this GB in order to generate higher interest with a recognized name.

Maybe Traveller is interested in doing this? He seemed to be a big OEM fan :)

scopeguy20 (alias Glenn) also come to my mind!

What if we wanted the YLW lenses? They would be $63?

I don't have any high power green, IR, or red lasers... only BluRay and the WL Arctic (soon).
Since I don't need >460nm I'd rather go for the 73%VLT... they should be much more pleasant to wear.

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

I use my ML-7's with my( 600mW PEAK, 530mW AVERAGE) 532nm LASER & I don't have ANY eye problems. I guess I'm gonna hafta use the included laser shades with my ARCTIC though, since the ML-7's (I found out) won't be any protection for the BLUE wavelengths.

@ LazyBeam, What happens if you get a 473nm (>460nm) BLUE laser in the future ? You'll have little or NO protection !!!!

Where did you find this out? I've been wondering this for quite some time. Do you know the OD at 445nm? Even if it's only 2 or 3, I'd still want to get them so I only have to carry around 1 pair for all of my lasers.

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

Rob Banas,

The ML7 filters are not certified for 445nm or 473nm. The ANSI Z136
specifications are listed below:

OD 5+ @ 190-400nm
OD 2.5+ @ 532nm
OD 1.5+ @ 630-655nm
OD 3.7+ @ 795-1070nm
OD 4+ @ 810-1064nm
VLT: 13%, Lens Color: Green

The graphic response curve describes how the absorptive dyes respond to the
continuum of wavelengths but do not describe the certification of the
filters.

If you'll notice, there is ZERO coverage for the 400nm to 500nm Wavelengths. I'm currently investigating the possible use of an insert, to be placed inside of my ML-7's to cover the "BLUE" Wavelengths. So, unless I can find an insertion shield for the BLUE BANDWIDTH, all ML-7 owners will HAVE to use TWO sets of goggles. One set for the "BLUE" BANDS, & the ML-7's for the rest.

Based on those specs, the ML-7's are practically useless as multi-wavelength goggles... they're basically only good for:

1) Most portable 532nm's you can buy
2) A <100mW 635nm or 655nm Red
3) Certain gas-laser and non-portable wavelengths (that often don't come in high power outputs anyways...)
4) IR and UV

That's IT. No 445nm, no 405nm Blu-Ray, no 473nm DPSS Blue, no 589nm/593.5nm DPSS Yellow, no decently powered reds (come on people even 635nm's nowadays are typically bought in >100mW), and no 671nm DPSS Red. :tired:

I personally don't see the use after seeing these specs... or at least if they're true and not omitting anything important ;)

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

I've tested mine out with my Yellow Band lasers (589 & 593.5), my 200+mW 650nm Red, 635nm Orange (only 8mW's though), 600mW, 532nm. & all these bands hardley pass any of the colors (yes, even the yellow band, although they aren't listed) The only bandwidth that passes almost untouched is the "BLUE" Bands. I tested these not as a direct hit, but as a reflection off of a 1st surface mirror.

Re: GB for OEM Laser Systems protective eyewear

I would be interested in an ARG style 34 High Tech, if they would be ordered reasonably soon. As I would like to have a certified pair when my Arctic arrives. I realize this is my first post and I am looking to get in on a GB but I swear I'm good for it.
