Beam Profile with G-2 for 405nm Request

So I know that the G-1 and G-2 lenses allow for greater power in 405 and 445nm lasers. And by a pretty large margin too!

So my 405nm laser is ~550 mW, but with a G-2 lens it would be over 700mW! But what I am curious of is how it makes the beam look....

So. Does anyone have a 405nm laser and a G-2 lens that they could try out to let me know what the beam profile is? Pictures would be especially helpful if they are clear. And of course, opinions are always welcomed!

The beam profile is very good still. I even like it better than with the Aixiz lenses.

That really isn't bad at all! I was worried because when I put my 9mm Stock Lens in front of my 405nm laser, it gets all wonky and doesn't focus right, so I was worried the G-2 Lens would be the same.
 
As the 405's PHR's and S06J's (not sure about the others though) are single modes, the output with a G lens or a 3 element lens is pretty much the same ie there is no real difference. The problem is with the MM diodes with a rectangular output profile.

I have used both G's, 3 elements with my 405's (and even acrylics, although not recommended with the PHRs) and saw no discernible difference with between them! :beer:

Thanks for that pink DJNY! Do you happen to know what a G9 lens is? He is selling that one at the same price so I am trying to decide between them. I am at work on my phone so using the search is difficult.
 
oh yes it does isaac. it's what i have in my phobos 405 12x. it focuses to a fine spot. i had to use an extended barrel with it because the phobos head is threaded deeply. a lot of the lens barrel is "lost" into it. more length was needed to get the lens itself close to the diode.
the g1, g2 and g9 are pretty much identical.

So if I have a G9, there is no reason to get the G-2? I tried the G9 again last night and I noticed I can get it to a focus, but outside of focus it looks bad. Whereas the glass lens I have makes a fine circle even when unfocused. I thought that was why the G9 didn't work.

The reason the G-series lenses might create ugly looking spots is that they've got such a short focal length that nearly all the output of the laser diode is coupled into the beam. This means more power, but also uglier spots. Other lenses produce prettier dots because the longer focal length means the edges get chopped off; you lose power, but you get a nice round spot.
