AixiZ 445nm lens...

Oh snap, this doesn't look too good... I hope it gets sorted out.

1 question, are the threads too loose like the aixiz 405 glass ? As in, do they require a ridiculous amount of teflon tape ?

Mine is tight i like to put it on just because i was taught that

Man this is really unsettling news.

There are so many of us waiting for these aixiz 445nm lenses.
If the factory screwed up on the coating. Or aixiz is having problems with too many of them accidentally being machined in plastic. we're in for a big disappointment.

There is a gold mine worth of money sitting here for someone to make a perfect lens or assembly, for these multi mode 445nm's.

Ok I just got an e-mail back from Chuck and he will be getting this issue figured out...

He said that there were a ton of things that happened at the same time...

* Storm of orders while they were on vacation and not able to oversee things.
* Possible communication issues with coatings. (to be determined)
* Possible shipping issues. (to be determined)
* Delivery and re-shipping with snags in customs

All of these things are a combination that has caused a lot of difficult circumstances to work with.

Anyway, I'll know more when I get my partial order and check them out.

But if there were mistakes with the coating or something, then they will handle it.

I'm still hoping that there were just some red lenses that got shipped instead of the 445's...

So we'll have to wait and see how this all works out...

Sounds like the same lens I got today in the mail. I had ordered the 405nm lens, expecting the "new" optimized 445nm coating. The lens I got today has the same blueish tint as my glass red aixiz lens. :yabbem:

A lens coated for 445nm should reflect red and transmit blue. However when I look at my new AixiZ glass lens, one of the elements of the three reflects red, another reflects purple, and the other one reflects all colors (no coating?). As long as it gets corrected if there really is a problem with the coatings, we shouldn't worry.

Wow, I'm sitting on the edge of my seat, for the feedback you get Jay. Sounds like a factory ar coating miss-processing. You know like they were supposed to get one type of chemical coating and were put into the wrong machine. I know it will work out in the end, but it's a nuisance at the very least.

Yep... I'm hoping to have some good news to report soon...

It sounds like there was a lot of confusion, and especially with the owners out of the country on vacation.

I'll definitely report my findings as soon as I get the lenses...

Got my 2 lenses today, tested them both in my jayrob 18650 host.

I get almost exactly the same power from both lenses as I got from the regular aixiz glass lense. They all 3 show the blueish tint.

375mW(glass), 372mW(445), 368mW(445)

Pulled my 405 lense from my projector to test, and get 383mW from it.

So the 405 is outputting MORE than the 445s......

That combined with the blue tint, I'm 90% sure they coated it for a DIFFERENT wavelength than 445nm.

Ha, I told you all folks, it was a mistake - summer time, vacations, no main staff, some new guys can't tell machines apart (ehh... guessing at random:D )

Now to sort it out, get right lenses, and finally get awsome power and beam from our 445nm lasers.
I hope Chuck will sort it quickly, though is a grand problem here as thereis exeptional number of units to send back, and for him to manufacture and send to you.
Fingers crossed, hopes high.

In the mean time... I hope no-one pops a 1W 445nm due to reflective issues. I'm not one to start a flame storm here, but with as much as drivers, host, diodes and such cost.

Plus time for all the build, poof, down to a coating error... This can be a very trying hobby. :scowl:

I'm going to wait... let jay be the ambassador here, but if things don't go well there will be some calls for sure. I think that forum member Hacksaw was following these closely hope he can shed some light on this also.

Oh man, I hope they get it sort out quick :)

Should we return them from now or wait till we get a exact response of what happened.?

Be patient.. They'll make it right, but right now they still need to figure out what is going on. More calls and emails and RMA's, etc, might slow things down.

(I do plan on sending a nice email that says hey, I think I got the wrong coating, let me know when you get it sorted. But, will leave it at that for now)

Iam More then Patient i have other lens to use just wanted to see what everyone was going to do.:)

Yea for sure, i sent them a kind email saying something similar.

OK we will wait and see what happens over the next few days:)

I should have some new info to share later today--Jay should be the only one to comm. with them on this-hundreds of emails/phone calle etc--wil slow down the process for sure.

Jay prolly has the best history with Chuck and the most knowledge on these optics-

It looks to me like a 'perfect storm' kinda thing--and getting pi55ed off surely will not help AixiZ to help us.

This did come to mind tho...(NASA)...."Houston... we have a problem"

I know everything that can be done--is being done.

BUMP---MODS/Avery--this thread needs a sticky--even if only a temp one--too many of us are directly effected in re these lenses...TY

I've been running my 445 with this lens at 1W for a day now without any problems. I guess I'll stop until it's either confirmed or denied that there is a problem.
