I'm happy LPF came through for this experiment, but you shouldn't have to bribe people to donate. Maybe if cOld did the same he would have similar results. To each his own, it's all good. Maybe an auction would be a good way go about it instead?

From what I can tell they didn't need to. I was offered 5 16x red diodes for my donation, but turned them down. As far as I can tell most people donated simply to support the cause and turned down the "free gifts".

I think if we are going to raise more money we should try a raffle. People buy tickets for 5 dollars each (or whatever) and people donate prizes. I could probably find something to donate. All of the raffle money goes to IgorT and the prizes go to the winners. Plus that is a lot more fun than just donating so more people will probably participate.

More money cant hurt. This is a bad analogy but:

I only NEED food and water to live (among other things) but i WANT lasers. I think we should anyway. id buy a couple tickets depending on how much they were.
