Well, just to let you guys know, after I saw how HOT that 4/6 X diode is, I figured...'if I kill this one, it will be a good excuse to get that drive'! So, I went ahead and went with my gut instinct, and connected the heatsink/LD to the MXDL case! I even checked it with an ohms meter to make sure it had a good contact before I turned it on! Lol.
I am happy to report, that it works just fine. The mW reading was the same, whether the heatsink was connected to the MXDL case, or not...

P.S. Please forgive the double posting. But it was a question that I was desperately hoping for help on. So, I'm going to post this same thing in my thread as well.
