Are you CNI?

No...

Are you CNI?

No....

Is this legit?

TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.

I believe so.

is it diode or dpss???

michael.

The are diode and emmit green light directly.

you got some 589s by any chance, bud?

Sorry not at the moment.

I'd jump on this, but I want to hear more. I'm not going to just put down $300 on a single line post.

Are these 510nm diodes? Are they CNI-built or recycled hosts? What's going on here?
Will you charge when you ship, or right away?

A pre-order for August in May? ... Have you guys actually seen these units?

Mind_ripper, you have my order if you can verify the legitimacy of this.

EDIT: It looks like, by the description, he will take the full payment now (in May) and then ship in August.
... This doesn't sound like a good idea. Please, Mind_Ripper, correct me if I'm wrong; but from what this looks like, it appears that you guys are financing an as-yet undeveloped future product with up-front funds from pre-orders.

If that's the case, I think we need to hear a few more details. Do you guys have prototype units that you've actually seen? Can we see metered beamshots? Spot shots? Wavelength comparison shots?

For essentially pre-funding this venture at-risk, (if it is indeed just a project that has no actual product yet) - what guarantees do we get? If this is a project, specifications and costs and build can change A WHOLE LOT between now and August.

Show us some images and measurements and comparisons, and tell us "you get this, for sure" and you'll likely have orders pouring in.

If there's a new wavelength. I will buy it. (I think there's visible verification of that.) - However, I've also been taken for a ride too many times in this scene. Please tell us more?

Yes these are diodes, cni built, we will charge before we ship. These units haven't been built yet, but will be ready early august. You can cancel your order anytime for a full refund.

Mr. CNI,

If you are indeed CNI, where did CNI source the 515nm diode? We can learn more about your laser if we can learn about which manufacturer these were sources from.

I'm not cni and i can't tell you my source. Knowledge is power!

He's not CNI. I don't know why anyone got that idea. CNI does not post in LPF looking for diodes to buy, as such:

http://laserpointerforums.com/f50/looking-buy-100mw-200mw-red-laser-diode-650nm-59584.html

He's a dealer in the UK. So far we don't know if he even has the diodes, just that he has a plan. Whether that plan is executable or not, we have yet to find out.

As far as sources go, that's rarely a secret. The 445s were Sanyo or Nichia, and that didn't make it any easier for hobbyists to get them. Similarly, these are going to be Kaai-Soraa, Sumitomo, Osram or Nichia. And no one manufacturer is likely to be vastly cheaper or more available than another. So really, diode manufacturer is not a "secret formula".

In any case, we *do* need some more details on this. If he wanted to, he could send a reputable LPF vet member (yobresal, daguin, DTR, etc.) one of these to review on a collateral (read: credit card pre-auth) basis, to do a quick overview. Or he could just post some more images... Which hopefully he'll do.

I'm still looking for some OEM diodes in this range 100mw or 200mw, just ordered some of the new 805 ones for testing.

I will post more images at a later stage since these are not built yet and will be ready early august as stated.

Nice job doing some research there. I'm just saying that he may be affiliated with CNI somehow. The use of "we" and the background of selling CNI lasers... Although I'm not saying that he IS. You could really argue either way unless OP came back and told us what's goin down.

We are business partners and have been for many many years.

Folks, don´t pre-order this laser!!

Talked to CNI, they don´t know anything about a 50mW 510nm laser!!

Showed them the AMAZON link, they told that there is NO 50mW 510nm they know!!

Be careful...

As i have said these will be ready early august, be sure to checkout cni's website around august, september, you will see this wavelength added in their diode laser section.

Damn you had allot to reply to :p....

Anyway these 510nm diodes sound like the ones from nichia i read about here http://laserpointerforums.com/f45/nichia-ship-green-diode-laser-53028.html
also 50mW and also 510nm

I do think that these will go down the same road as the 445nm diodes, maybe not in the same numbers per "projector?" but certainly in price drop once we find out where to get these:p

dont take me on my word for that though, its just my thought.... could be misserably wrong to :p

o just saw the other thread about this...:o

At first, read the forum rules!

Why the pre-order 3 months before?

Strange that CNI doesn´t know ANYTHING about the 510nm diodes available in their handhelds!

Haven´t seen anything about the 510nm price yet, I won´t pre-order it anyway without knowing it.

I'm in business to make money so im offering pre-orders 3 months before to stay 1 step ahead of the competition. I have my contacts, if you don't want one, don't order SIMPLE.

And if it turns out to be legit, then by August, there will be a source of green diodes that we can ALL harvest, with far less risk, and incorporate into a host of our choosing - likely for less money, and very likely with a higher quality result.

IMO there is no appeal to this offering whatsoever - and I'm all for jumping on random/unique new diode sources!
While I actually share your opinion on this, as you might have guessed, not everyone
feels comfortable ripping and building avant-garde stuff.
Many are happy simply being able to lay their grabby mitts on something like this
in the first place.;)
Can't wait for August to come around!

I´m NOT here just for business. I´m here cause I´m interested in lasers and I want to make sure that no one get hurt by wrong laser handling AND that no one gets scammed. You have to proove your product before anyone here is buying it.

Has anyone pointed out to him not to put up more then 1 post at a time? He posted 10 times....

Told him to read the forum rules, but he won´t care. Why should he, he is just here for making money as he told us

Not just for making money, but for providing my customers with a quality & unique laser that are very happy with.

The price point seems to point to an easily available source in July/Aug.

Your evasiveness reaffirms this in my mind.

I would hold off on any orders/pre-orders until there is a real product shipping in the marketplace.
CNI makes lasers, not diodes.
Nichia is saying volume production in August, so that means projectors or other products with this diode in it will appear much later, I doubt even before the end of the year.

Is there any spec available for the diode (often a company will say volume production dates, but that's only an estimate and often it's much later). If there is a spec. I bet since it's a direct inject diode, it's going to have terrible beam shape and divergence just like their 445nm diodes.

These diodes when they get into projectors, will reduce the production cost of the projector, but that may not result in lower retail prices on the projectors, so you'll be able to get maybe 24 diodes for $30-$40 like you can now for the 445nm, but if they do reduce the prices of projectors or maybe they will be in less expensive consumer goods, then they'll be had for even cheaper. They'll be just as simple to make into a pointer as they are not DPSS.
So $300 is alot of cash for a 50mw green pointer with bad beam specs (even if it is 510nm). I think once they are in a product, they can be harvested for $30-$40 or less and great homemade pointer can be had for ~$100 or less.

My advice is to wait until there are real diode available and then decide.

It definitely would not surprise me if the beam specs of these are similar to the 445s. Not like they need anything close to great beam specs for a tiny projector. It will be nice just to have a 510nm pointer, but I have no problem with waiting over half a year to have one in my hands.

Okay, the big thing for me is this. If this guy is so smart and can get 510nm diodes.... Why on earth did he post, 4 months ago, asking to buy red diodes? if he can get 510nm diodes, surely to god he can get a freakin lpc.

And also in his second post of that thread he said, is it cheaper to buy the sled and harvest the diodes? Come on. Please tell me that somebody who is so laser inclined to know about and get 510nm diodes before anybody here, why on earth can he not find his own red diodes, that a first post member could probably locate, and ask if it's cheaper to harvest the sled himself or buy the diode straight up?

I don't believe a word of it personally

I would like to add that I also don't believe this guy, and would consider it retarded to place an order from him.
