4W Blue Diode Coming! Single Mode Too !!

^ same here. First company who hasn´t replied to my mail

:horse:

Yeah... unfortunately, I may not be able to get in on this because I am now $400 in debt :(

That is not really beneficial. We don't even know if we can get samples, even then you don't know if you will be a part of the GB, And we don't know their cost, so you posting your debt, is kind of irrelevant.

hello guys, well i am embarassed.

So I went there today unannounced, and the front desk person asks me "so who are you here to see and for what time" i respond "I just dropped by to talk to someone"

I think this was were you messed up Steve, of course they wouldn't let you in if you said you were some random guy stopping by. Play the people. Tell that you are in some kind of research in need of new wavelengths to use. They have no reason to help you, they are a business, of course they don't care about the little guy. That would be like a billionaire going to pick up a penny.

And I have a feeling that if too many people start inquiring, they will get spooked.

i didnt want to flat out lie, since if they start asking questions like who i was affiliated with and what kind of equipment was a using to test, etc etc where i cant give them an answer or if i give them a wrong answer I would look totally stupid and they would probably laugh and not even bother with me EVER again...

so apparently it's a company called Kaai that was recently bought by Soraa that is working on a 525nm diode (it's at ~6mW right now?) and possibly the blue ones too?

Good news is, they're located around 10 minutes from my house. So, come next month when I'm home for the summer I may pay them a visit!!

good luck dude. i tried. they dont take walk ins. and making an appointment is impossible. they havent responed to me either. I live in san jose, its a 15 minute drive but yea... no luck so far.

Am I the only one that isn't really that excited for this?
We've already got ~2W 445nm lasers. I don't know the technological implications this will have, but I just don't see this as that amazing from a laser point of view.

If you want to give me a boner, start throwing out random colors in diode form.

lets start with this: even for milliseconds, 4 W will burn faster :D

well its not really the 4W blue im interested in. its the fact they are making diodes for projectors that might have 750mW red and also a decent powered ~75mW green DIODE...no more dpss!!! and a class 4 red diode thats gonna be nuts!

You're not the only one. That's how I feel about it, too.
2W is scary enough for me!

Then again of course you always need MOAR POWER, in the words of Tim Taylor

Now if only I had the money for one of those 515nm diodes from that veteran group buy....

Guys another year or 2 and direct green should be atleast semi-affordable. That's my gut feeling

The Single Mode is the Diode I want to see..Plus a Class 4 Red would be awesome when and if They hit the street.
