Are you sure it's single mode? From the pics it almost looks like it might just be a wider cavity that produces a multimode spot in the shape of a square. It's almost looks like a single mode though.

.....but some of us members have been here a while even if we don't make ourselves known. Alas, being the introspective non talkative type screws me again.

If you cant tell, im a little bit jealous right now:p

Sigh... You don't say...

2x22650 minimum!?
Well 5W is alot of power, but I think doing maybe 4xCR123s with a buck driver would be better? Having low current draw on the supply side is usually better.

@BB - I'm not expert on these matters, but to me this looks like a single mode diode... I mean take a look at this:

Datasheet

@Moh - It's April 2nd... why do you ask?

The diode had a hidden feature, as soon as it's original retainers were tried to be removed it self-destructed, about two hours and ten minutes ago.. exactly at 23:59:59 :(

Can confirm these are in existence but can't comment further other than definitely not single mode.

It always amuses me when people say "I can confirm XYZ...." and then proceed not to actually do so.

Do you expect a sworn affidavit? Be grateful people want to at least confirm this at minimum, NDA aside.

You've missed the entire thrust of my comment.

"Hey guys, I can confirm that bigfoot exists. Okay, goodnight everyone."

Sweet... the existence of bigfoot is now confirmed eh?

I understand where you are coming from, early tech news is often questionable. That said, I won't put my reputation on the line to troll or provide false news - guess you'll just have to wait and see when it is released publicly.

Sorry, no disrespect is intended (even though it may come accross that way).

But:
A) This is not "early tech news". This is a comment by an anonymous poster on a forum.
B) What reputation? I haven't been on LPF much recently myself, but as far as I can tell by the numbers under your name (and so that you don't take any offense to the comment, I'll emphasize that the numbers are all I'm judging), you don't have any reputation here. You have a dozen posts to your name, and (for whatever it's worth) no rep.

Thanks IE,
I saw what you had directed me to previously. My objection here was an objection in principle, notwithstanding the fact that I knew this guy to be full of crap for... those other reasons ;)
