last I knew diodes weren't sensitive to static electricity.
I for one have never seen any type of diode packaged in any kind of static shielding
including LEDs, then again, I could be wrong, after all, I haven't seen any laser diodes (other than those in CD players) at radio shack .

Diodes in general might not be susceptible to ESD, but LASER diodes are very susceptible. I've had way too many lasers die from ESD. RIP little diodes :cryyy:

Put foil over foam. Poke diodes to foam through foil.
Foil will ground static charge. Foam holds diode & foil.

That is not a guaranteed good contact... you would be better to solder
the 2 LD wires together or use a PCB shorting block...

I think it's time to do a little research and reading on the Forum...
because you ARE completely wrong... Laser Diodes ARE extremely
sensitive to ESD...

Yeah find out if you can just cut the ribbon cables ... as I was told they are just screwed in place.

How does Glenn ship his diodes? I'm sure whatever way you end up packaging them will be fine kiyoukan.

i have had no contact from andy_con and yes i am waiting till he contacts me i sent him pms over lpf pl and his email still waiting.
just got his email he still wants them awaiting payment

Yeah Dave... I PMed Andy_Con early this afternoon and saw that
he was on the Forum at 6:02PM... But no reply or payment
to kiyoukan... Don't know why he seems to be hiding...:thinking:

I'm sure kiyoukan is doing his best to keep the deadline...:cool:

I suppose these things could easily be labeled as 'replacement projector lamps' on any customs forms, since that is their intended purpose after all.

Putting on 'this will set your house on fire - class IV' would probably not be the best of ideas ;p

The array is in several parts.
Small screws hold them together.
There is a bit of thermal compound to deal with.

The ribbon must be almost totally clipped away in order to push the diode out. Or the solder carefully heated with your iron and wicked or sucked away to release the ribbon. The ribbon can melt, part from the diode without fully releasing and leave you with very little to pull on. Takes longer than I expected. I imagine the second time around it would be easier.
