***EDIT*** Smeerworst has tested the laser with his Ophir LPM and the laser hits the 3 Watt mark !!!
Here is another videolink. ***EDIT***
First I want to thank Eudamonium for making the heatsink and the focus adapter. They are really beautiful made. :thanks:
And to DTR for providing me the 9mm diode.
This is my first BIG build. I was at cnqualitygoods.com for the blue silicon tailcaps when I saw this wonderful host. This host has room for triple 18650 batteries. I bought the host and ask Eud for making the custom sink and focus adapter. When the parts are arrived I started the build.
If you made so far, kudos
Thanks for watching !!! :thanks:

The original host.
Reflector replace by the enormous sink.
Custom made focus adapter.
The whole host is basically a sink. Reminds me of the Sandworm in Dune.
GITD tailcap.
Battery holder for 3X 18650 in parallel.
The middle piece can also be unscrewed. I didn't know that till later
The workmanship is perfect !
Next to the tiny C6 sink.
I polish the copper module for the extra shine
9mm 445nm diode press in the module.
I use the original lens from the 9mm diode. The lens barrel was sanded to get the lens closer to the diode.
The driver version 1
I used dual Ben Boost for the build. The main ic is heatsinked with copper plate.
The battery side of the pill.
Triple Sanyo 18650 in the holder.
2.26A :eg:
The horror
I couldn't get the dual Ben Boost driver stable. After 8-15 sec the power drop dramatically. Somehow the drivers can't maintain the high current.
I can't figured it out what is wrong. Maybe the silicone wires are too thin or the inductors are too close. I don't know. :undecided:
I decided to ditch the drivers and rebuild the power suply from scratch.
The driver version 2
This is a buck driver. I have been using this driver in many build. The main ic is heatsinked with a piece of aluminium. This piece it touching the pill from above.
The battery holder has been rebuild to fit 3x 18650 in SERIES.
I had to figured out which line to cut and and connect the other points.
The driver fits easily in the large pill. A piece of aluminium is connecting the driver and the pill for heat transfer. I put some glue on the edge to strengthen the construction.
Pushing the boundaries of the 9mm diodes. The driver gives 2.222A
The laser gives 2.8+ Watt !!!
I have to reduce the beam with a blue filter and two UV filter. The multiple filters block 29% of the beam so that only 71% hits the LPM !
That number must be multiplied by 1.41 for the actual power. :eg:
The LPM reading must be multiplied by 1.41 !
BEAMSHOTS :
I have only a few beamshots. My ballhead on the tripod was broken so I couldn't use it for steady shots. I will add more pictures when it is repaired
